I guess the lastest 'spin' is an appropriate place for this.... So Sunday Morning around 6am i'm heading to work at a fairly quick pace, normal for me, and as I round a blind curve I notice the White older body F-150 coming the other way is IN MY LANE!!!! Not over the line a little but really in my Lane. I did the only thing I could do to avoid an accident and ran off the road at about 65-70 on a sharp ass curve. As I started to lose control and drift toward the guard rail I did every thing I could to avoid it and did a Zorro across the road twice. Looking at the woods on one side of the road and a guard rail on the other. After it was all said and done I was sitting in the middle of the road shaking and cousin in a cloud of dust. No damage. Didn't hit nothing which is really amazing considering the proximity of the Guard Rail and the woods. So I put the car in first and continued onto work, Happy to be alive. One more reason not to sell the WRX.
Sounds like you handled the situaton well with some mad driving skills... Happy everything turned out ok!
These idiot drivers are all over the place. My wife gets run off the road on a fairly regular basis due to idiots in lawn trucks and various other work vehicles crossing way over double yellows. cant wait to get back to texas b/c there are limited 2 lane roads and curbs and medians all over the place. LOL
And a good reason to not go 65-70 through a sharp ass turn. You never know what is going to be in your lane around the curve.
I am typically on alert for animals or cars turnin out in front of me or across my lane of traffic because these things tend to happen. But a big truck coming at me is F@#!ed up! I know i was speeding and should slow down but is it too much to ask that people maintain control of their machines.
well at least you made it out alright as well as the car....slowing down FTW...but i agree that others should stay in their lane as well.....
I know how you feel. I was driving home from work late one rainy night at like 11PM. I was going a steady 60 mph on a nice straight. Out of NOWHERE this deer comes running towards me and then stops. I snatched the steering wheel and next thing I know is I'm spinning. Then the weirdest thing happened....it was like everything went into slow motion and I'm shifting and hitting the gas to compensate. The entire time I'm thinking 'Stay on the asphalt. If you hit the grass it's over.'. Well I changed directions like 5 times and the car straightens up. I must have sat in the middle of the road for 5 minutes before I started moving again. I'm just glad that the driving lesson I got in Roebling finally showed itself to be applicable on the street. If I hadn't took those lessons I'd have crashed into the ditch for sure.
"I know i was speeding and should slow down but is it too much to ask that people maintain control of their machines." Assume everyone is a friggin moron! You'll be right 50% of the time . You did not dodge a bullet you dodged a cannon shell....Unless you're on a road course I would not speed through blind turns it could have been a Semi in your lane! Glad your OK, happy endings (not just at massage places) are good!
yea if i'd gone around the blind curve too fast on my street today...i would have hit a prisoner holding a stop sign...talk about freaking irony...
Thank God you got out that situation and you're ok we don't need any other subys bitin the dust like mine.
I apologize up front for the threadjack. What happened? Are you saying something has happened since I saw you at Drift Atlanta? Back to the original thread: Glad to hear you avoided a potentially very nasty wreck. edit: Nevermind I found the original thread. Really sorry to hear about it, but glad you are ok.
Glad you're alright. I've a couple of similar situations myself, and I know how frightening they can be. Way to keep your cool and get yourself out of it.
