A run to The Tail of the Dragon

    I've always wanted to make this run when I had my motorcycle and well I still wouldn't mind do it in the WRX. From the directions it's approx 150-175 miles from Atlanta. It's 318 turns in 11 miles. I am up for a weekend maybe heading up Friday and coming back Sunday. Let me know what you guys think.

    I really want to do this as well, but I've heard it's miserable on the weekends. I was talking to someone who said that traffic is a nightmare and cops are always out in force on the weekends. I'd like to head up really early on a Thursday or something, doing the run that day and either coming back that night or staying and doing another run on Friday.

    I would be game for during the week as well. My schedule is pretty open except at month end because of work. Other then that I am game.

    A lot of fun up there. Its best to go during the week instead of the holidays. Keep an eye out. A lot of Subaru, evo, nissan, etc etc have meets up there.

    It's a fun road but I've found MANY roads nearby that are funner and the cop force is not there. On the TN side the cops are bad and you WILL get busted if you aren't careful. I hate the Dragon on weekends....the bikes are everywhere and either they are tailing you or you are tailing them. And idiots everywhere crossing the double yellows!

    However it's worth doing at least once. But keep it safe there man....it's a blast to even take the turns 'spiritedly' vs wide open full potential.

    Oh ok. Now I don't feel as DOH. Well I am up for anyday of the week. Who's game?

    Hmm I see some suspension work being done to the car in the NEAR future lol

    Me and a friend accidentally ran it at around midnight a couple years ago. We were completely lost looking for a campground, and just happened to drive on it. Haha, didn't see another car on it the whole way, it was fun as hell :)

    yeah nothing like decreasing radius curve that you cant see or expect at 100 mph. :p

    I can most likely make it the week of the 22nd. I might not be able to go Monday or Tuesday but the rest of the week works for me.
