My brother borrowed my car on Sunday and when he picked me up, he had the A/c going and when I looked inside, I saw the temp gauge at 220. I told him what the heck was going on and he hadn't even noticed. I have a fan controller and the fans turn on after it hits 159 degrees but, now it keeps switching on and off due to it goes from 164 degrees to 157 degrees. Normally it would go past and stay right around 180 degrees. So the controller keeps turning the fan on and off. Since it reached such high temps, could it have messed up a sensor of some sort? Any info is greatly appreciated.

check coolant level - first thing that comes to mind, or it may be a thermostat problem...

it is an 04 STi and it has fmic, boost controller, gauges, full turbo back exhaust 3". 56,000 miles. No past problems other than some idling problems but it was my plugs.

yea that's what I thought at first but I'm thinking that it is the thermostat now. I appreciate the input though.
