A New belt noise thread...

    My squealing belts are KILLING me...

    I did my timing belt a few weeks ago and ever since my alternator and power steering belts just wont quiet down, they are both just loud as hell until they warm up.

    Does anyone know the proper tension on those belts? I might have them too tight.

    Thank you for that.

    What is weird is that I can't tighten the alternator tensioner anymore than it already is...and there is still a considerable amount of slack in the belt.

    I feel like an idoit...it is just a belt tensioner.

    did you loosen the locknut?

    Yeah...it is like I am out of adjustment...like I have reached the top of the adjustment slot.

    These new belts? Also as I have mentioned to others check the AC pulley...it grenaded on my car after only 90k miles!!! Took a chunk out of my timing belt cover too...had it made it through the timing cover, it could have caused a large issue!

    Yes, brand new belts. The AC pulley looks okay.
