Anyone know if Topspeed can do my 30k service for less than the $450 SOG charges? Do they do service type stuff at all? Thanks!

I am not worried about the fluids...its the sparkplugs, I have heard they are almost impossible to get to. Not true?

    Quick and Painless

    Spark Plug removal

    Drivers side

    1. Remove Battery 10mm nuts

    2. Remove Coolant washer fluid tank 10mm bolts

    3. Loosen 12mm bolt located on coil pack (it doesn’t come out its attached to the coil pack)

    4. Insert 5\8ths spark plug socket with 3 inch extension into plug hole.

    5. Now attach ratchet to extension, loosen plug so that the extension can be turned with your fingers.

    6. Remove ratchet from extension and remove plug.

    7. Gap new plug to appropriate gap (in my case they are gapped down to 28)

    8. Reverse Process.

    Passenger Side

    1. Remove intake

    2. Remove intercooler pipe (you may not have an intercooler pipe) (you may even be able to do it without removing the pipe if you do have one)

    3. Repeat steps 3 through 8.

    Good Luck
    Matt

P.S. I can now do a set in under 20 minutes

    Thanks

    Thanks

    I try

    I forgot the tools list

    10mm socket

    12mm socket

    5\8ths spark plug socket

    3\8ths ratchet

    phillips and flathead screw driver

The first time you do it, it should take somewhere around an hour the next time you should be around 30 minutes, if it takes longer than that you are doing something wrong.

    ask for help

also a 3/8 swivel, 6 inch ext or 12 inch ext may not be a must, but it sure comes in handy

also, keep in mind the torque you put on the plugs. whatever you do, dont muscle them in!! Just get them good and snug, the last thing you want is stripped heads! Good luck with em man, ill be doing mine in about 5k more miles!

Thanks for all the great info guys! I have done maintenance on my other cars all my life, I just have read things alluding to the comparitive difficulty in reaching the plugs due to the boxer design. But, with your comments, I am sure I can do it! Thanks again...now when is the next install day?

I use the swivel sometimes to, but for your first couple of times you should use your fingers. After you get a feel for how they thread in its no big deal.
