Ok, first the venting :grr:ALKJEDFUCKING:grr:KSJDLKFJDSLDAMNLKDJF:LDSKJSHITSHIT:evil:SHIT:evil:SHITSHIT Ok, now that that's out of the way...my front load washing machine is a douche. I did a load last night before going to bed and went to open it this morning and it was completely full of water...key word being was. About 6 billion gallons of crap water came flowing out before I could slam the door back shut. Once closed, the bastard locked itself, still half full of water, and the machine is making a really high pitched noise (sounds similar to a variable frequency drive). It's locked itself down, won't respond to anything on the front and is still half full of water and my clothes. Does anybody know ANYTHING about how to get this fixed? I really don't want to have to call a repair man to rape me in the ass just for unscrewing some plug in the back. I'll be leaving work in about an hour and can take pictures if anyone thinks it will help, but I need to do something fast before I lose a load of clothes and my mind. Here is my washer, btw. Any help will be greatly appreciated... And, on a side note, I saw a dollar floating on top of the water. It's like the damn machine is mocking me... :squint:
wow that is crazy!!! I can't say that i know anything to help ya....just didn't want to be a view and not post! hope ya can figure out whats wrong and fix it....
I too can be of no help... but your problem the 1st thing I thought about when I heard about front loading washers, it seems inevitable.. Have you tried at least calling customer service? Maybe there is an easy fix... Are there troubleshooting tips in the manual it came with?
i've had my front load washer for a year or so..have never had a problem...How long have you had this washer?
The previous owner (who only lived there for a few months before being transfered to San Fransisco) left the set, so I'm not sure where he got it or what warranty information there is. I tried unplugging it to reset the system...did nothing. I'm going to try and pull out the back where the drain plug sits and make sure it's not clogged. Maybe there's some stupid sensor in there that's not letting it operate properly. If the set was bought when the house was purchased originally, it should only be about 15 months old. We have never had a problem with the front loader until now. :grr:
well if its 15months old its 99.9% chance that the manufacturer warranty has expired. those are usually only a year. im about to call my roomate who works in appliances and see if he can suggest something.
awesome, thanks Jake My roommate said his parents set did the same thing. He said they took the top off and there's a manual unlock for the door. They said their's had a sensor go bad and it was a cheap fix, so hopefully ours falls into the same category. If nothing else, I can get the door open, salvage my clothes and get my dollar back that's stuck in there. :sx:
ok umm, best buy will just send you to geek squad tech support. so you're better off waiting on the phone for an hour with GE. that or googling the shit
Were/are you using the proper soap? I know there is an HE ype for front loading machines and that could be causing it to, over time, clog the drain and trip the sensor...
Yeah, any concentrated liquid detergent works according to the warning label on the front. ...ugh... GE guy is coming out on Thursday, hopefully we can have it fixed by then to save myself some money...
Ahhhh okay, cool...well not so much cool as in that works...I know with my parnets front loading, it takes a special detergent for that...
yeah I have had some issues with ours (my wife that is cause I dont do clothes LOL) but nothing like you are having except the controls locking. GL with the repair, they are expensive I know that so if it is not too much it is still a deal.
ge has a very limited warranty. My roomate said at worse that could be a result if the motherboard crapping out and not telling the machine when to end the cycle. And at that point it's almost cheaper to buy a new washer.
on page 9 of the owners manual: ■High efficiency detergent is required for this washer. Use the detergent manufacturer’s recommended amount. The detergent selection insert must be placed http://products.geappliances.com/Ma.../Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90359.pdf can't use just any detergent
ya the HE soap is the only stuff in spec for these machine. My guess the pump blew a seal from the soap foaming too much. Either that or the drain hose got kinked and simply not letting water drain in the dump tube?
Thanks guys, hopefully it is the soap...that sounds like the cheapest fix when compared to fried electronics and what not. I'll check with the GE guy on Thursday when he comes out and find out for sure. Hopefully my mistake may help a few of you out in the future
Did you get a Home warranty on the house when you purchased it? Talking about one of the ones through American Home Shield etc. b/c these cover applicances etc...
ok, GE guy just left and it wasn't TTTOOOO bad...$230, but that includes the $70 fee just for him to come out. Drain tube was clogged and it seized the pump. Makes sense now that I'm looking back on it...I heard the high pitch noise, should have put the two together. Anywho, nothing we could have done to prevent it except clean our pockets out a little better. FYI, we asked about the detergent, he said that most all concentrated detergents are also rated HE, but it will say on the package as well. We were using HE detergent and didn't even realize it...lucky us.
you know it...he's about to framed and put above the washer to remind both my roommate and me to clean out our damn pockets so this doesn't happen again
so do i...they were mostly day after christmas clothes I bought that I just got around to washing for the first time - that, and underwear, which is good, b/c i'm currently sitting in my last clean pair now Roommate said they didn't smell bad at all, and he went ahead and ran them through another cycle so all should be well.
sounds like a good friend. probably just stuck his nose in and smelled anyway, doubt he hand-selected a pair of undies and held it against his nose. how did you not notice you were buying he detergent? its almost twice as much $$
It's just All - not the cheapest, but not the most expensive...just a middle of the brand line. Guess i choose good :sx:
GE profiles come with a 24 months factory warrenty, call your local hhgregg or home depot and get the number to the service department
