Well, after getting a slew of emails containing something to the extent of, "yo dude, ur car iz mad tizz ite! I'll give you 9,200.58$ for it, if you can finance!!", I decided to take it off the market and enjoy it, especially since I am now making a daily drive from Buckhead to Lawrenceville. Anyway, I am going to be installing a few goodies and longevity mods next weekend and would love any advice or help. The biggest concern I have in the mods is changing brake pads, installing stainless lines, and bleeding brakes. The only brakes I have ever worked on have been in aviation, so the brembos are a bit new to me. I'll trade beer for help! Here is the install schedule for next week: 1. Remove coilovers, install RCE yellows and group-N tophats 2. Change pads/lines/fluid for brembos 3. Change oil 4. Perform "free castor mod" 5. Check all bushings/etc for wear and tear 6. Install Air Oil seperator (from ming @ ixic) 7. Find a better boost gauge and replace my leaky/crappy boost gauge 8. Detail car 9. Drink beer 10. ??? 11. Profit If you guys don't remember me, I helped Neil at the first Orton dyno day (I was the guy helping to strap cars to the dyno) Seriously, any help on the brakes would be great, I am located in Buckhead. Thanks guys! Chandler
brakes are easy. anything in particular you want to know about them? recommend a flared wrench for the stainless lines, otherwise you can strip them if not careful. bleeding brakes is easy, just be thorough and try not to introduce any air into the system. depending on the mileage you may want to change the fluid. pads are an easy swap. just take the wheel off and look at it for about 5 minutes. the brembos and OEM 4 pots are made to be changed without removing the caliper.
I may be in. No experience with Brembo's specifically, but I've done brakes and other minor stuff. I'll have to see what those days look like though. Keep us posted!
i'm busy as hell, but i can tell you pads, lines, and fluid for the sti brembos are a snap. go to boxer4racing.com and get the speed bleeders too, they are worth every cent. check these guys out for brake diy: http://www.hspn.tv/?do=showcat&catid=14
