Hey I'm new...and am in dire need of a brake job. Being a poor college student I'm on a budget. I was just wondering if this is a hard task to complete or am I just better off taking it to a shop...Thanks

Can you buy beer and drive somewhere? Almost everyone on here does their own brakes.

If it's just pads then its a real easy job. I am sure someone on here is near you and can help.

Usually do them myself. It's pretty easy if it's just pads.

Nah it'll probably be about the same.

It will be similar. Once you get the wheel off you can remove one bolt and the caliper flips up and the pads almost fall out.

    need Brake work?

hey, i read your post and wanted to offer to help you out. If you feel like driving up 78 to snellville i can get those brakes done for you. Schedule is pretty flexible and ive got keys to my shop so if you ever need anything done just let me know.

    Hank,

Fill out your profile so we know what car you have and where you are located, this would help us help you!

Pads and fluid change are quite easy, just find some good directions. The link posted above by wagunz_pwn was exactly what I used when I did it the first time. If you have an older car with rear drum brakes, those can be a pain, but still very doable by yourself.

It is a fairly painless process, read up on it and DIY -- have fun!
