Hopefully this is the right section... I am about done with my stock brakes (10% left or so). I am wanting to go ahead and upgrade them as well as rotors... etc..I found this kit right here CLICK ME and was wondering peoples thoughts / suggestions? I use this car for daily driving and for now, thats it.

    Thanks in advance!

If anyone knows any other sites to order from that would help too!

    I recently went with:
Racing Brake Slotted Rotors Front and Rear - Front $199 Rear $150
Hawk HPS Pads Front and Rear - Front $77 Rear $68

The prices are for an 05 WRX. I ordered everything from Subydude.com. I have been very happy with the setup. Does not screech, lower than stock dusting, and much better bite than stock.

I feel you could get something a little better for less.

IIRC, you don't need slotted / cross drilled rotors. Make sure they're vented, but end there. Get the fluid...I picked up 2 cans at GTE for something like $14 each (you only need 1, I just got a backup). get the Hawk HP+ pads for the front and HPS pads for the rear. The SS lines are not necessary unless you just want them...they effect pedal feel but have nothing to do w/ performance.

As for rotors, I'm not sure there...I haven't had experience w/ them, other than I know not to get the slotted or cross drilled ones.

    Hope this helps.

Slotted are fine, its the cross drilled that crack after a track day/ hard mountain runs.

For daily driving Crossdrilled are fine. I had an ebay set for over a year and the fronts didnt crack until I went to the track. They survived many mountain runs. I also still have the rears on my car and they show no signs of cracking.

I have never heard anything bad about Slotted Rotors, aside from they will eat thru pads faster than non-slotted rotors.

I have heard to stay away from Cross Drilled rotors as they are more prone to cracking and breaking because the holes weaken the metal.

i have some brembo blank's fronts that just need to be turned, basically they have 1 track day with stock calipers that gouged them but they are turnable.

That's the reason...it has nothing to do w/ cracking, it's the eating of the pads.

The ONLY benefit you will see from slotted / cross drilled is at the track when you've already overtempted your brakes / rotors. For daily driving, even spirited driving in the mountains / auto-x, a blank front is more than adequate AS LONG AS the rotor is vented.

Point is, they look cool, they cost more, they eat pads faster.

Guys he has a Legacy GT. WRX rotors will not fit his car. His rotors are almost as big as STi rotors.

Rotors are rotors. Autozone for the rotors and some HPS pads will work GREAT for a daily. While you are at it stainless brake lines and upgraded fluids.

Rotors are not rotors. Different metals can make a huge difference. Cheap chinese rotors are not anywhere near the same as DBA or Brembo rotors.

Anyway, from a fellow Legacy owner, I went with Hawk HP+ front pads and Hawk HPS rear pads. I have brembo blank replacements up front and DBA 4000 slotted on the rears with SS lines all the way around and ATE blue fluid. I am replacing the fronts with DBA 4000 slotted and Panther + pads in the next few weeks. I had the HPS pads on the front but they gave you the parachute affect. You would press the brakes and there was nothing for the first few seconds....It was strange feeling so I took them off and went with the HP+. The HPS pads are still worlds better than the stock setup but both pads will dust heavily. You have black wheels so you should be alright:)

I have to disagree with you there Drew...SS lines are a great upgrade. The braiding keeps the rubber line from expanding during hard braking and you get much more Responce from the pedal. I see this as a performance improvement ;)

Hawk HP+ if you track the car or auto-x. They stop like a mofo. Lil noisy for daily duty but I like it that way.

Maybe not a performance improvement as much as a feeling improvement, but you will get an improvement none the less

im running power slot slotted rotors front and rear with hawk hp + pads good ridge ss brake lines and rbf600 fluid on my 05 sti really made a difference in brake feel especially the hawk hp + pads are amazing. they still feel good cold and just get better as the temp rises. not the best for brake dust however but owell. i had the hawk hps pads on before and they are noticeably better.
