BOV and CAI. Jokes...has the 60K been performed? Does it need pads, rotors, fluids? Or, sign up for the next Scott Siegel driving school and learn your car.
^^^ This Plus, you can probably pick up a set of sways with the left over money after buying the Cobb AP.
With $500 go with nothing. Put it up for sale and get yourself an Evo or something. Subies aren't worth it. LOL
welcome to the site!! I started off with suspension first...was pleased with my decision...then power mods!
Welcome to the board. I have to agree that engine management and an up pipe is a great place to start. The Cobb APv2 is the engine management of choice for the Subarus. If you ever have any questions feel free to call or pm me.
thanks guys i took it out on the twisties for fifty miles i love the wrx i think imma start with the engine contraler then move to up and down pipes then turbo back the suspention sways and what not are already done
oh and i work at hayes on 120 any other advice on the wrx im getting used to her pretty fast the 60k tune up was just done befor i bought her
yea i was typing fast i changed my post when i saw what i said i am going to get the engine controller then the up pipe i think sound good
cap nice how is the program at gwinnet im about to start i took a few classes here and there and my boss wants me to start the cap
I liked it alot. John Stahl is a really good teacher. I wish he had been the instructor the entire time I was there. The program is definitely worth it.
thats good. im going to start next semester i guess should be pretty fun so is an 05 wrx reliable (anything i need to watch for) this is the nicest car ive ever dreamed of owning and i wanna keep it on top
Like all wrx, the tranny can be a weak point. Other than that till you start really pushing them, they are fairly reliable.
yea my tranny seems pretty good and my turbo spools fast and very good ive never loved a car lke i do this one i just dont wanna get out of it
so to liven up the posts i got two questions i hope sparks somthing 1. why do all the guys in mustangs think they can take us on our curvy roads 2. i understang bov is a bad bad choice for this car but why
1. Mustang owners are funny 2. That's more of a myth than anything else. Read and learn: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=468038
depends on the setup really. for 80% of owners it's usually a bad idea. if you need one, you will know
In a MAF system like our cars you are releasing air to the atmosphere (with a vent to atmosphere BOV) that has already been accounted for by the ECU. So the ECU is still injecting fuel for that air (that is now gone from the intake) which can make it run quite rich between shifts. In the stock bypass valve it recirculates this air back into the turbo inlet tube so it never leaves the intake tract. Some are worse than others though. Some of the hybrid (part recirc, part vent to atmosphere) are not as bad. It will still create rich conditions between shifts, but not quite as rich as a full atmospheric bov. I actually read an article which compared a bpv and a bov on the dyno and found that with the vent to atmosphere bov you actually lost a bit of horsepower in between shifts when compared to the bpv...it was minimal though.
