Considering this is the first one I have done I am not really sure what I am looking at. I thought I would post it up and ask from feedback from someone a bit more knowledgeable than I.

it is a pretty dumb question, yes.

alex, this is only really useful if you can compare it to previous results to get a meaningful trend. only thing I would question is the copper level. (rod bearings have copper in them). but like I said, they are meaningless for now, but you can establish a trend.

I gathered that. The next sample will be the Rotella 5w40 oil so we'll see if there is a discernible difference between the two. I am happy that I finally got around to sending in the sample. I intend to continue to update this thread, but we'll see how long this lasts . If others are having their oil analyzed we can use this thread as a database.

Since this seems to be your first oil analysis
prefer you stay with the same oil on your next to establish at least a trend

i use GC at 4.5k OCI
and SRT at 4k OCI in summer

If i do need any top up in between the OCI's i add something call SLOB (that i bought out all the ones near home for $0.49/bottle) Street legal oil booster

TBN has a value to see if your oil can handle longer OCIs

Well I already put the Rotella in as that is what I had purchased earlier. While it will not help me establish a trend, it will allow me to create a baseline for both oils for "moderate" comparison.

I got a revised analysis from Blackstone this morning. I will post it when I have a minute.

Amended report is below. The numbers are not different, just the "explanation". Posted for what it is worth.

I would post your results over on the Bob Is The Oil Guy forums. Lot's of oil nerds over there.

I've been meaning to do an oil analysis or a while now. How much did it cost and what was the turnaround time?

BSL is $22.50 and usually they email you their report the same day they receive the sample :) Hard to beat!

I ordered two more kits; 1 for the next oil change and 1 for the rear diff. In case you did not know, they do tranny and diff fluid as well.

Yes but im not sure how good they are with the new batch
I still have about 30 bottles of the older batch/lot and about 6 bottles of the Green stuff
I have about 25 bottles of SLOB too :)
but since im using SRT for summer - my stash will last me for a while

New batch? The one that is not labeled "Made in Germany" on the rear of the bottle or what? I know there is a 0w30 out right now that is not made in Germany :dunno:

    Old batch was pre 07
than there is a pre 05 (certain months) - Real Green Castrol GC = GREEN oil
Now GC stands fro German castrol

I have not bought any post 07 GC and i did not pay attention to any OIL analysis since because i have more oil than i ever need to keep my auto running for a long time. If it does not say Made in Germany than for sure its not the same GC that i know or like. My fall back oil is Shell RT and then ill use Pennzoil Ultimate and add my own add packs

I tried to make sense of the German Castrol situation, but at least for me it's too hard to find.

So I'll keep putting the high-end Amsoil in the STi for now, until I see good trend in UOA results
on turbo cars using something else.
