hey guys, there's talk at the office here of people being limited on how much gas they can get because there are major gulf supply lines that have been damaged. there is talk of stations even running out of fuel and people waiting in line in some parts of the city. some even speculate that GA will be out of fuel by the weekend. of course this is speculation though. this also explains the prices. EDIT: I just spoke with a guy who runs a citgo, prices will break 3.00 and higher this week, he told me some stations south of ATL are already running dry. put on your happy helmet 'cause things are about to suck.
I guess I will be taking a chance driving from Ga to Tx on friday ) Gas should be there. If not I will bring my bike along in case
My mother works for a gas distributor, here is the deal as of now. the distributor are being strickly allocated the amount that they sold last year at this time. look for gas prices to reach 4.00 a gallon by this weekend, if not out. people often hord stuff at times like this, which may cause an outage. there is also a rumor of suspending diesal for 30 days, unlikely but u can never tell. if ths happen, this will get a lot worse, think of all the things that depend on it. i will keep u guys post as i find out more. be careful guys, never can tell how some people will react to time like this.
Yeh, it was crazy trying to get gas today. The highest I saw it was $3.20 for premium, but a kid at school saw some for $3.65 in griffen. Just stupid!
Somebody just sent out an email about this here at work. "Per a regional sales manager with BP; gas will be 3.50 within the next 24 hours so please try to fill up tonight!"
dang this is gettin crazy, kinda makes me want to reconsider the s4 that was coming in next week...... +1 for group buy of these http://www.pepboys.com/transportation/street_legal_scooters/9265118_06069-streetlegal.html 141 mpg is hard to beat
I just paid 3.19/gal for regular (I was out of gas). A girl at the pump next to me said she passed a place that was 4.26/gal.
Well, according to alantagasprices.com there is a gas station that is $5.87 near me. I hope they go up in flames with the same gas that they are selling at that price!
we are out of gas on this side, damn sob's from alabama made sure of that. for whats left reports of 7.00+ a gal are coming out, they should never be able to sell gas again
I filled up on the way home for 2.92 (BP 93) at Mary's on hwy.11 between Jefferson and Winder. In Athens, 93 was 3.23. They outta pull the business license of the gougers and fine them.
The two stations near me on Ptree are completely out of gas. The Texaco at the corner of Ptree and Collier is out of 87 and the other grades are $4.09 and $4.19. Reeeediculous.
yea everything by the mall of ga was outta gas......everything will be fine though just gotta be a little patient. If you need gas fill up otherwise just go about your normal stuff. I am alternating cars till i run out. The rex is staying parked though until i run outta gas because it burns like a mofo. those faggots that gouge the prices should be shot....Purdue is pissed!
Hey guys, just thought i would make sure you all know that the worst thing you can do right now is go top off your car. EVERYONE NEEDS TO STICK WITH THEIR NORMAL GAS ROUTINE! The reason the gas is getting so high is because demand is skyrocketing. When you go to top off because your scared, you just use more gas than normal and send shrieks of shortage around the region. Lack of panic = lack of shortage. If everyone relaxed, the lines will be fixed soon, normal supply routes will resume, and gas prices will come down. Supply and Demand. And that is why i go to business school... to make common sense seem complicated.
there is no shortage, even with the stupid buying frenzy today, but if it KEEPS happening, then YES there will be shortages. Georgia usually produces 10 days worth of reserve gasoline in its market, which DOESN"T mean we only have 10 days of gas. it means if gas production goes to ZERO we will maintain the capacity for 10 days straight. gas is NOT at zero and our primary sources from the north and from the georgia coast are still fine. NATURAL GAS however.... is going to be shorted soon. and not just in Georgia.
Last night the gas stations on Roswell Rd. were packed 20+ cars deep. This morning there were *no* lines at those same stations. Morons. I'm going to help the local gas supply by keeping it off boost for a few days... 8) worst was 8mpg, best was 22mpg
that's really all you gotta do, depending on your mods. i'm just keeping my shift points at or below 2500. if there's an upside to the idiocy... it's that i noticed people driving MUCH more sanely this morning. of course i'm seeing some people turn their cars off at the stoplights too so i guess the sanity is canceled out by the stupidy (you use less gas at idle for a few minutes than you do when you are starting your engine, it's the same as reving for no reason) it really is no different than ice, snow or anything else, i've never seen hoarding like i have seen while living in this state. very sad. oh, and i didn't mean to stir up a pot when i created this thread, i just wanted to give people a heads up on what's going on. by all means don't play into the insanity, if you've got "enough" gas, then you'll be fine. from my experience of the hoarding in this state, i just figured if you needed gas then get it... because once people learn that a supply line is down, there will be a shortage (the definition of shortage is a deficiency in amount, not "gone" and there is and will be a deficiency in amount in the days to come until people calm the fuck down)... and sure enough, there were people filling 50gal drums( i guess to power their Y2K fallout shelter!?), 20gal drums in addition to their cars. some stores were out of those containers as of yesterday. my intended message was to be "conservative", not "freak out". i never cease to be amazed at just how quickly society will devolve at the drop of a hat.
I am thinking if things get busy tonight I may pack in a few lawn chairs grab some food to go and head on down to local gas station and just sit back and watch the entertainment Cheap night out with the wife lol I have to agree with you Monk about the GA being the worse state in regards to hoarding here in GA. I think people around here have the "I" mentality.
people are retarded! turning your car off is sooooo dumb..........whatever. I am staying outta this and not gonna fill up until i need gas. This should be completly over shortly.
I had to get gas last night. I was well under a quarter of a tank, Gas light would have come on today. 4 Gas Stations around my apartment were out. Finally found a station to get gas and cars were lined up 7 deep. Luckily I only had to wait for the guy that was pumping to finish up. I ended up having to pay $3.50 a gallon. Absolutely rediculous.
on a societal happy note... fishermen were/are coming in as far as 200mi away to pull people out of what was louisianna's streets. my hat goes off to these people, they just make ends meet, and their busting their ass for no ends other than life itself.
even though 4.20/gal for premium may seem expensive, its still cheaper than what i paid in bombay in 1997 for regular
yeah i paid 3.40 a gallon today but it's really not that bad...atleast i still have a place to drive home to..... :wiggle:
One of my coworkers got gas last night (because he was out not because of hysteria) and walked inside to prepay b/c they'd disabled the pump pay since prices were excalating so fast only to watch the manager walk out of the back and say "help yourself to free snacks and drinks while you wait because I'm making so much money off of you at the pumps"... but hey, he took a LOT of snacks and drinks probably more than the $45 he paid to fill his miata so i guess it works out fairly in the end. sometimes.
I saw 4.66/gal on the way back from work yesterday at a BP, waited till this morning and got 5 gallons for 3.40 each from a shell , f'in gougers. Then, i get a 6 foot long scuff mark across both passenger doors about an inch wide, probably from a stray shopping cart while i was at lunch, and have to go get that buffed out for 50 bucks , bullsh*t day argghhh!
3.40 is better than 4.66 :wiggle: i'm holding out as long as possible waiting for it to come back down more... but my tank's been showing 1/4 for a while now so i don't know how much longer i can hold out before it heads to E. Sorry to hear about the shoppingcart. I'm always very wary of those. people just push them at the collector (if you're lucky) and let them roll wherever they will and stop by whatever they happen to hit ... it's pretty inconsiderate in my opinion.
