What should I buy? Does anybody make one that hides out of sight? BH

Moving this to the electronics forum...

and all I can say is V1 :bigthumb:
As for hiding, there are numerous installs that you can do yourself or have done that can put the actual unit in all sorts of crazy places. My personal favorite is the one which sits in your review mirror.

as far as hiding goes you are gonna prevent the sensors from working to their full potential so i would suggest that you mount it up by the mirror like most places suggest, and as far as brand Valentine 1 is deffinately the best.

Bump for the Valentine 1. I've had mine for about 6 months and I don't know what I was thinking for the past 10 years using the other detectors.

I haven't used a detector in quite a while, but here are a few reviews I just dug up as I'm in the market as well.

    Motortrend

    Autoweek

    Speedzones

As always take em for what they are worth.

i'm not a speed Freak, but i have Valentine 1 which my GF gave me as a present for my bDay.

I drove to NE Blue Ridge mountains last weekend. It saved me from two troopers who kept pulling over people through out the day. I saw them on the way and on the way back as well.

They were using K and Ka each. V1 did provide MORE than enough range to slow down.

I have ONE more suggestion. If you live in ATL area and drive I-85, I-285, GA 141, GA 400, or any major highway, GET Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter. 95% of time, I got shot with Laser. Maybe once or twice with K from driving by motorcycle cops (scaries cops on the road), and occasionally Ka.

So far ZR3 is doing its job. No ticket for 4 years. LOL~ got mine first when i was Junior in High school on the way back home from Homecoming Dance. :D :D Guess what?? I got shot by Laser that night as well!!

I installed ZR3 myself. Took me 2~3 hrs. Of course V1 is hardwired and mounted right above room mirror. Valentine 1 and ZR3 offers me almost the best protection that I can get.

I paid $280 shipped from eBay. I think HiFi Buys has it for either 299 or 399 plus tax. Call them up and ask.

Ga, is infact moving away from Radar based detection. From what I've seen all troopers now shoot Laser, but NOTE there is a roaming Kband within cruisers now. What does this mean? They do not have to be stationary to pull you over; granted, they could always pace you to "get your speed" but now with roaming K they are capable of getting an accurate reading w/o actually being stationary.

The perimeter is horrible. Anywhere past the toll booth on 400 is horrible. 78 is bad, 20 is bad...the moral is Atlanta is not the best place to speed besides the fact flow on 285 is 70+, 400 is 80+, etc...

Ok thanks for all the replies. I'm thinking Valentine 1 but this will not help me if they shoot me , right? I'm scared to death I'm going to jail due to my heavy foot in my STI - Brian

    Exactly!!

I pretty much just drive a couple mph slower than the fastest cars on the road at any given time, that way they'll get the ticket not me.

85 is not the best place to speed either. Def got a ticket 2 weeks ago coming back from MilOs house. Its wasn't go.

Damn what happened to the center diff?

I thought you said it was just an axle problem.

i have V1 and ZR3 combo just for extra protection against bad luck. I got one speeding ticket which i did 22 over the limit. I also have accident record which i totaled my accord back in 2002. One more ticket or accident, no more WRX.

My avg speed is around 65-75 on major high way. I learned a GREAT lesson after I walked out from my totaled accord....

Yeah bobby, I had a new clutch put in less than 4000 miles ago and when CLASSIC put my axel back in they f-ing jammed it back in there and I beleive that is what is causing my center diff to good bad so fast.

    Check out www.radartest.com

Me personally I'd go with the Passport 8500 with the Laser shifter for prolly around$600 or less. I know 3 people with this setup and its amazing.
