Hello: Just signed on. New to the world of Subaru. Just acquired a 2007 WRX Wagon. Love the car so far. The car will be a daily driver/weekend warrior in autocross and hopefully some track days/maybe some time trials. I'm a middle-aged guy trying to re-live my youth. Previous car = 2003 MINI Cooper S daily driver/Street Modified autocrosser. My son and I built the car up, with the help of others, and have been co-driving it in events since he got his Learner's Permit in March. He's been a passenger in races since 12, and working on the car and attending races since age 11. The car is now his, as he is a good kid who earned it. I live on Lookout Mountain, GA, and am active in the Chattanooga Region SCCA (currently Grid Chief). Our next event is this Sunday 11/15/09. Check out www.rivergate5speed.com. for info. We got a new, much larger lot than we have had for the last few years at an auto auction place, and it is pretty nice. Come on up and play if interested. I would also be willing to show any of you Metro guys some of the fun, and pretty well-kept secret twisties of the Northwest Georgia Mountains. Looking forward to chatting with and meeting some Subaru folks. Len
Post pics of the Mini... I've always liked them, but you'd have to saw off my legs from the knees down for me to get into one
Thanks for the warm welcome guys! AtlxPat - Thanks for the heads up about the site. Check for pm soon. SonicBoom - I would just about guarantee you are wrong about the MINI (unless you're thinking Classic Mini) - I am 6' 4" 215 lbs. More room in the MINI than the Subaru or any other vehicle I have been in (backseat excluded). I drive with the seat NOT all the way back, and can lock knees, legs straight, with the seat all the way back. I'll post pics, if I can figure out how, of both cars soon. I want to wait until the wagon gets a little exterior mod that I expect to have done next week. Anyone looking for a mountain drive, or Chattanooga Autocross (much smaller region than Atlanta - generally 6 runs as opposed to 3), do not hesitate to contact me. Len
Wirelessly posted (From Your Mom's House) post pics of the wagon as is...that way we can follow your progression!
wrxin8or and I both fit comfortably in a mini...and that is saying something (no we're not gay  )
PLease do not post misinformation... Atlanta Region program does 4 runs with the option to by 4 in the afternoon. I would suggest looking www.soloatlanta.com if you have any questions. If have not been to one our events I highly suggest you attend. We attract anywhere from 160 to 200 drivers from all over the southeast for our standard points events, many of them nationally competitve drivers.
Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome. Meredith - I hope that you will be able to unbunch the panties. I apologize for any misinformation. When I last ran an Atlanta Region event, there were three runs (I admit that this was approximately 3 years ago). The Atlanta Region seems to be an awesome group of people who put on great events. My first Solo experience was a school put on by the Atlanta folks, and everyone was great. Atlanta guys come up from time to time to our events and generally put on a pretty good driving demonstration for us small town hicks. I need no education as to what the Atlanta Region does and the fact that you have some competitive drivers. I have simply chosen to race in other locales, and posted information about the Chattanooga Region as an option for what I hope will be some new car enthusiast friends on this site. People on this site can elect to run in an Atlanta Region event with hundreds of drivers or a Chattanooga event with tens of drivers or no event at all. My sincere apologies for the 3 vs. 4 gaff. If anyone can provide me tips on how to post pics of a reasonable size in a post, I would be glad to do so. My computer skills are a bit lacking. I can describe the Subaru in words however: Went to Maryland to purchase the car - scary, but ultimately well worth the trip. 2007 WRX Wagon; Pearl White; came with Cobb Accessport; Turbo-back exhaust (Cobb downpipe, SPT from there back); Prodrive Springs; Cobb swaybars front and rear; HPS pads (stock rotors). I've added Enkei RFP1 17" x 8" in black; camber bolts with an autocross/daily driver compromise alignment; Silencer delete (elbow added); K & N filter; Perrin MAF hose. Accessport set to Stage 2, 93 map. I want to add Turbo Inlet; Group N mounts/bushings; Rear swaybar; and then, most importantly a custom tune. Any suggestions of a good (great) tuner? Any other suggestions would be appreciated - although turbo upgrade won't be anytime soon. The MINI is a well sorted car - not stock. If you have ever been around an AtlantaMINIs club member, I am generally not a bit like them. Len
In post above - I meant rear strut bar for the Wagon; seems to make alot of sense to me. I also added a KartBoy shift knob to the Subaru short shifter, forgot to mention above. I have a bunch of OEM take-off stuff to sell/trade (exhaust, springs, swaybars, shift knob). I will post in appropriate section. PM if interested. I am looking for a stock air intake box on the cheap. Len
