not the same jake. outback is off legacy chassis and outback sport off the impreza chassis.... sheeeshhh, i thought you would be on top of that one!
Just went through his journal and thought it was a bit coincidental. I don't know whats up your ass all the time about what I say but I could care less. You go away.
Wirelessly posted (From Your Mom's House) No, you thought it would be funny to bring that back up, but in reality...you look like an asshole.
Hahaha I am one! Hahaha. So on topic.....Xan you are swapping a WRX engine in your car? How involved is the swap? Are you having to swap all the wiring and everything too or are you converting the existing wiring sorta like some of the 2.5RS swaps do? What kind of timeline are we looking to see this nice sleeper back up and going?
I'm swapping a WRX engine and dash to minimize the amount of effort needed and the amount of downtime. The car is still running at the moment, just on 3 cylinders and smells funny after about an hour of driving. I bought a 2006 WRX intercooler off of Matt (wagunz_pwn) which fits perfectly under the long, skinny GC/GF scoop. The STi block project is being shelved for now. I've got a nice little accumulation of parts already, and it's going to grow the more the mail is delivered this week. Boost gauge, Autometer cluster bezel pod, 98 Door Cards, a bunch of LEDs for a color change, and some other crap are already being shipped to me. I want to do this as nicely as possible the first time so I won't have to dick around with re-wiring and taking apart a swapped car. The tentative plan is that once the swap is finished I'll be taking her down to Doug at TopSpeed for an OS tune. In terms of fun cosmetic things, I'm about to put on some of the USDM rear spats. I'm looking for some nice 3" driving/fog lights that I can stuff into the morette housings, since the cracked French optics just aren't cutting it with those BMW HIDs. Huge thanks in advance to Brandon at AllPro, Doug at TopSpeed, Everyone at Zen Motors, and everyone here who has helped me with buying/selling/installing parts and figuring out what to do with the car.
Well, the auction site crashed while we were bidding, so the quest continues. EDIT: a rolled 02 comes up for auction on the 1st. That's the next target.
almost finished my clock pod/scangauge mount. Picked up some new fender braces and a Cusco diff brace. I have a lot of stuff being shipped to my house. Folks aren't happy  Also started tearing her apart to fix little things that were bothering me, like a leak in the roof.
Uh oh. Parts are starting to come in! Fender Braces and Cusco rear diff brace came in today. Also have another shift knob on order, I missed my 07 WRX one. Looked and felt so nice.
my wrx knob is back and I can't decide if I like the extra height over the KB knob. I may just shorten my shifter again. Donor car hunting is such a bitch. I'm thinking about getting together and stripping my interior to fix leaks, soundproof, etc - anyone want to help out?
JDM tails are in the mail, finally! Couldn't beat the price and jumped on it. Also found a wrecked 2003 on Nasioc for $1500 picked up. Needs a turbo and some belt covers. Stay tuned, things are about to get messy. Also, need an opinion. Got an opportunity to get a rear diffuser from Chaser Aerodynamics (a full C-West kit was too rich for my blood) - which do you guys like better?

Here is what you need to do Xan. Take the money you were going pay for the swap and get a used pick up truck. Part your car out. Take that money and buy however many used 5spd's you can. Sell the five speeds for a profit and pick up the broken ones they are replacing for a ridiculous price if not free. Enter into an agreement with someone like Allpro or any other Subaru shop that can do this under dealer rates, to rebuild the broken Tranny's for you and then continue to sell and rebuild. I can guarantee you will probably have enough for a new Sti in 1 to 2 years. Shit I need to do this LOL!
intercooler is actually in good shape, it's just the best I could get the fins un-bent by hand. I'm not sticking around, I just wanted to show you guys that I did it anyway. here's an incredibly unsafe interior teaser.
still battling boost leaks, but overall the car is running WAY better than I ever could have hoped. Want to give huge thanks to the following people, I keep meaning to do this. Brandon and Zach and everyone else at AllPro Doug and Cicio at TopSpeed Tray and Decker at Forged for chasing down the random parts for me JNA Performance for the interior goodies Matt B for the longblock Matt C for the intercooler Ming T for the EBCS Will G for the troubleshooting, moral support, and random parts acquisition Hundreds of random other people on Nasioc that I bought parts from.
