Hey i'm getting my kumho victoracers next week, which means i'm painting my extra wheels pink... i mean cherry blossom red this weekend. I'll post pics of my progress.
Supa-stick-eh! Are you getting them shaved & heat cycled? And you'll have to write up how they are compared to the stock RE-070's. I still haven't decided which R compound to use when the time comes...
victoracers are awesome.... just dont store them like i did when i buy race rubber again, i think im gonna go with the RA1
Not getting them shaved or heatcycled. It is easy to heat cycle by yourself.. just put them on, go for a 10-15 drive, and store them for 48 hours before using them for an event. The ones that I got for my car aren't shaved and seem to work fine. They will be used for autocross, and a few schools (evolution school) so shaving shouldn't be necessary. I read that you really don't have to have them shaved, unless you are taking them straight to the track. The only drawback to Mere getting victoracers, is that I won't have a tire advantage against her for autocross, and for the subaru challenge, I have to drive the sti with pink wheels. ssh: :bigthumb: -- Brian
I have been storing mine in black trashbags, in a dark place, which should keep them fresh. Sorry to hear about your drying up. RA1s look interesting. We almost went with the Kumho v710s, but they are supposed to not last as long as the Victoracer V700s. But, the next set will be v710s for the STi, and my s2k. -- Brian
Brian's victoracers were stored for 11 months, and they are working out great for him. I'm gonna double bag them in put them in the closet of my extra bedroom when i'm not using them. I was going to get the kumho 7-10s but they don't fit the stock BBS rims. Also i want a tire that will be able to take beatings on the track too. I was looking at the RA-1s too, i think steven (xnoodles) is thinking about them also.
i hear the ra1s have extremely good grip in wet conditions as well (as long as there's some tread left)
Tires aren't going the wheels until next thursday. Mere will start painting the wheels pink this weekend. It should look like my earlier photoshop, as she will use the same paint for her tires as she used for her helmet: minus the pink rotors Tires look like the pic on Tirerack: and the ones in my gallery: http://mere.darg.net/s2k-victoracers -- Brian
can't wait to see the pink wheels for real!!!!...I'll have to try to make it out to an auto-x to see them in action...
i look at these and think of the other thread where the sti bbs rims for sale cheap. lol and i now see those rims painted first coat. just makes me chuckle. im sure they'll look hawtness when your done! ill have to come to an auto cross to check them out!
Heheh, i'm too lazy. sanding these things was the biggest pain the butt! these wheels are gonna take alot of coats to get all the little nooks painted.
got pink? Here is a picture after the third coat, and sitting overnight: .. I wonder how many strange looks I will get driving the car with these on at the Subaru Challenge event :keke: ssh: :ugh: -- Brian
Don't think so. If anything goes wrong with the paint, we can just respray then. It isn't high temp paint, so I want to make sure it won't change colors when it gets hot. Not worth the trouble of clear coating. -- Brian
Wow not sure there... trying not to delv too deep into my psyche on that, but for the homophobes... potentially infinitely worse!!
Looks awesome guys. Great job! Can't wait to see the finished product on the car. Oh and I "borrowed" that pic to play a joke on some friends.
hehhe, brian's has got all the people on the s2k board wanting to see them too. i need to dyno my car on the dyno day, i don't know if my victoracers are the best thing to have on my car while it is dynoed. i showed my coworker the pic and she couldn't stop laughing, the guys at gran turismo are gonna laugh at me too .
hey this wasen't even my idea! ok it was my idea to paint my helmet pink ... but brian and his old roomie thought it would be a hoot if it did. they hounded me for weeks about painting them pink, then brian posted on various forums took polls... i can't withstand the peer pressure of the internet. i guess now people will realize the STi is my car not my husbands! hopefully i'll post some pics tonight, i'm bringing my camera so i can take pics of all the people at gran turismo laughing at me.
yeah lets see this thing with some pink wheels! I wonder what an STI would look like with a pink powdercoated intake manifold instead of red?
sorry, there was a bad wreck on 75s at 4:30 when i left work. they whole highway was shut down. ok finally here are some pics, i'll get better ones tomorrow.
i got some strange looks on the way home, but the victoracers are so worth it. the guys at gran turismo acually liked when the wheels were finally put on the car.
