R rear Clunk

2002 WRX ej205 recent 6sp swap. Noticed r rear wheel and r suspension assembly have been clunking. Decided to rotate balance and align. Found a bent rim r rear (17" 08 wrx wheels). Bought a used set same wheels. Checked all for true all checked out excellent. Remounted tires (New Zieks) rebalanced wheels installed and aligned to stock. Clunk is still prevalent and there seems to be a unequel gate in the r rear wheel like it is warped but it is not. It was just tested yesterday and I have not hit any pot holes or anything remarkable other than driving it. The unequal gate is in the right rear and is very noticeable when the car is rolling between 3-10 mph. The clunk is noticeable when hitting bumps at moderate speeds 30-50 and also during slow speeds on unequal surfaces typically when going up a unequal upgrade when weight/load shifts to r rear. The mods to the suspension are: Koni yellow inserts in wrx struts, Tein H tech springs, 29mm adjustable sways in the front, 27mm adjustable in the rear, whiteline bushings, stock front endlinks, perrin rear end links. A notable mention is that the axles, hubs are all stock even though the tranny was swapped. The 6sp is an 04 with a R160 3:90 open diff in the rear.
I pushed down on either rear side of the car and they are both firm no bounce. They also look equal from a visual inspection. No fluid leaking from either strut in the rear.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

Maybe you should repack that strut assembly?

What happened to your coilovers? Did you check for loose bolts? Did it just start after the 6 speed swap

Liked the BC's allot but I got the opportunity to swap for Koni inserts and felt these would be a better daily driving set up. I am realy happy with them and the guy who got the BC's is happy so a win/win.

We did check for loose bolts but I still have to check the tophat. The rest is solid. Breel mentioned he thinks it may be bearings so I am going to put it up in the air and go through the gears over the next couple of days. Check for any wheel, strut assembly movement. Inspect the hub and axle as well.

The clunk is on the corner where I had a bent rim so I'm wondering if whatever caused that might have caused other damage. It was very intermittent prior to the 6sp swap, got worse after the 6speed and after I swapped out the bent rim, got re-balanced and re-aligned it really woke up. Another thing that is different that is worth mentioning I went from a LSD to an open diff with the 6sp.

The Koni's seem fine they are not sagging or giving on either side. They are adjusted slightly stiffer in the rear so I am going to even them out the same all around. If you push down on the right side with the trunk open basically putting all your weight down on the right corner of the car and the trunk floor above the strut assembly you cannot recreate it. It only happens under load usually on an angle or between 30-50mph when the rear right side hits a bump or hole.

    Thanks

I have encountered this before and it was my center nut in my top hat. Sometimes they loosen themselves up and when you suspension drops down into a hole or bump the nut hits the tophat causing a clunk. It's a easy fix and it sounds like that is your problem.

Did you get this issue resolved?

Following up on my first thread, without actually replacing the suspension yet we had the car up, wheels off and triple checked everything sway bar and subframe related. Exhaust hangers all good too
My dreadful right rear clunk persists and while I was under the car it dawned upon me that we have a drum type parking brake. Mine is completely ineffective and I'm sure it's properly exploded. Should have thought of it earlier.

I plan to buy the following in preparation:
    - Both parking brake cables in case one is stuck.
    - Rear brake shoes for both sides
    - Maybe I'll replace the rear rotors while I'm at it, they're not really worn though and I have new Hawk pads in there; not sure.

    Questions:
    1. What other replacement parts should I have handy?
    2. I understand the assembly needs to be adjusted from the back, Any tips on how to get this adjustment "right"?
