^^ Yes, its SetCpu... Not to be a fan boy of a certain mod but.. If you look up Sholesmod updater in the app market, its $5 to root & give your phone OC ability. Then you get SetCpu(99 cents) to actually adjust it. There are still a few manual steps but its very easy. Takes about 20-30 minutes if you have a strong wifi connection, a bit longer if you are using crappy 3G. Totally worth the cash. And, if your worried about the warranty issue.. there is a return to stock flash included in the app that puts you back to where you started...
I have DROID as well...it's not rooted or OC'd...might still do that, but haven't seen the need to as of yet. apparently sholesmod.info is no more and was changed to droidmod.org for rooting. Also, it's free to do now. I'm in the process of rooting mine.
^^ Yes, this happened last week. Apparently the creator of Sholesmod left and took all the the money "donated" by people for the app.. leaving the developers collective cheese in the wind. I'm staying at the previous version (2.0.6) and not going to the 1.0 for now. For some stupid reason, they have removed the smoked glass ROM's and went back to the white notification bar and old style home key. Its just cosmetic, and can be fixed by manually loading the ROM... but that was the point of the app, to do it for you.... Let me know if you have any issues.. If I can't help, I can probably point you in the right direction.
I installed it. Might keep it on for a few days and then revert back to 'stock' Is that a matter of just wiping the device clean and starting over? Or is there an uninstaller for it.
Do you have the actual app installed now? I think I launched it from my SD card. If the DMupdater app is in your app drawer and you open it, it should give you a ROM menu with one of the options being back to stock. That works well... Did it come up with a white notification bar or black?
dmupdater is not in my running services, if that's what you're referring to. come up with white notification bar? Not sure I follow there.
Just trying to see if you have the smoked glass rom... I'm refering to the bar at the top of your homepage with you clock/signal strength etc... is it white or black?

Thats what I was afraid of... you gets no Smoked Glass ROM. You have to do it yourself.. while not impossible, much more difficult than the app doing it for you. Are you OC'd yet? Did you try the live wallpapers? Some of them looked pretty cool...
How do you like the live wallpapers? It seems to me I would be like "oooohhh, thats cool.... wow, I can see my battery drain while I watch.... uninstall"..... As far as the OC'ing, I didn't notice a significant change in battery drain... battery life sucked before the OC and after
yeah....the only issue with it is the live wallpapers aren't interactive like they are with the nexus one. now that I've had the OC for over 24 hours, I can see a difference in some instances, but not all. Like normal scrolling through the home screens, it's faster, but loading handcent takes just as long
What are you OC'd to? For me, internet seems a bit faster.. scrolling threw apps and navigating the homepage seems snappier... I checked handcent since you mentioned it and its almost instantanious.. I'm at 1Ghz...
All Android users on here, take a look at MINFREEMANAGER on the market... DL'd a few days ago and it does seem to help speed things up and help with battery life... Can't tell if its a placebo effect or not, phone seems faster, batter does seem to last longer. Set it to Agressive... Brief description "Who needs a clumsy task killer? MinFreeManager allows you to set the parameters of Androids Built in memory manager the way YOU want them. No more close apps hogging your precious memory." I'll update after a few more days of testing..
I was poking around in the DMupdater app and saw that I can chose which OS I want to run on the device. So that's at least 'easier' than I was expecting it to be
yeah, there are pretty thorough walk thru's available for most things... I've been downloading new themes and messing with live wallpapers... good times..
Just learning myself... this is my 1st smartphone... I rely heavily on tech forums and friends for help or I would be lost...
Yeah, my current contract finally runs out in May or June believe. I'll be stepping up to a smart phone and will likely go with a Motorola Droid (depending on what else happens with phones in the next 4 months). I guess I'll be looking into some of this eventually, but right now it's completely foreign to me.
I just switched over to Android myself and love it so far. Well semi-switched. I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 on Sprint and am dual-booting the device with Windows Mobile 6.5 and Android 2.1. I really like the interface and the wealth of support behind such a young operating system. There's tons of apps and useful tidbits all over the place. Next phone will definitely be an Android device. Plus with all the news of Windows Mobile 7 it sounds like a disaster.
Pfft... All of these fancy devices and such. "I just typed a 12 page document pertaining to puberty and e-mailed it to my daughter while texting my BFF and opening the garage door. All while not talking on my phone!" Seriously though, I'm just upset because of my hideous BlackBerry contract that I am locked into. Come June when the contract is over, it's getting replaced. I want this... http://tiny.cc/4WLfn
Just got a samsung Moment so far so good. so far apps just fun stuff tweetcaster, some gun apps Pandora and a taskiller gonna try those other up dates soon.
I just become new owner of HTC Hero. After being BB loyal for past 3 years, I finally saw the light and became android converted. I'm looking forward to get to know more about android!!
Just a FYI - We picked up a HTC Evo yesterday for my wife. The phone lives up to the hype so far. The battery life has been pretty good so far but I turned off 4G, BLutooth, and wifi. It is simple to turn on those wireless connections so I told her to turn it on only when she needed and leave them off until needed. My contract is up for an upgrade at the end of the month so it will either be the EVO or 4G Iphone for me. I am thinking it will most likely be the EVO since I dont feel like getting raped with an ATT plan.
^ i really got screwed with getting a G1 last summer, wish i held out at least a few months before getting a droid...i gotta charge it twice a day.
http://blogs.computerworld.com/16319/apple_android_mobile_market_share Screw you Apple! I am not a fanboi of any brand but I hate the people that think their Iphone's are so superior to anything on the market. The new Droid X will put a big hamper on 4G iphone sales.
Actually I just hate ATT Seriously, if the iphone was with other carriers I would have had one by now. I have a Palm Pre so wtf do I know?
Don't think its been officially released yet has it? I've been running a 2.2 Beta on my Droid for the last week or so, but didn't think the "official" release was out yet for any phone.
