Sounds awesome guys! All very interesting goals. Rex im interested in why selecting the 24mm/22mm Setup, not saying it wont work or will induce understeer as i dont think that will really be the case as the car can definately use a very heavy bar in front. Plus with coilovers it not really an issue as you can adjust how you want it all to interact. Sounds interesting if you feel learn me up on your thoughts. TCJRS sounds like quite the countermeasure setup Im interested in the ZR3 Shifter as well, I hear its awesome, let us know! Matching the rated hp with wheel hp will be quite the nice DSR. Milo sounds great, you will really like the sway bars addon a definate kick ass mod. Belvin let me know when ur ready for a stock STi Top mount ill cut a deal of my old one in spring. Sounds like a good early car plan setup you have going. GT know if you are sourcing out a JDM or USDM 6-speed? If you go used 5-speed maybe a set of spec c gears will help with the power and keep you cheap by slushbox im presuming an auto, My last GSX was auto and had a lot of transmission mods and over 280hp, saving grace for it was beefier clutch pack(Not too expensive I think I paid $60), shift kit($125) and transmission cooler($150.00), the temps would get outrageous, but it helped it stay reasonable and reliable, the high stall T/C(a bit more $ but loved it) dropped .5 on 1/4 as well, just chuckin ideas. Black sounds like fun, I want to rallyx soon myself im trying to get a impreza wagon(90's) or a 91 Legacy to dd and try rallx for fun. Alex whats a HSM?

Jason, I guess you were out of the loop when I went through all my transmission problems. I was running a transmission cooler and everything but over time the auto just kept killing itself.

There's a couple 6speeds over on NASIOC and Scott Siegel has some places where I can get some cheap USDM 6speeds.

Jesus Jason, take a breath :)

    HSM = Hardened Strut Mounts

And about your filter, that'd be great -- about the fluids, I figure why not go for the tranny and diff flush and swap.

Also, I need to get new pads, suggestions on where to go for the cheapest prices? Might end up calling Porter to see what he's carrying, etc.

Recently picked up a 2002 Wagon. Will be a daily driver and see probably 35k miles/yr based on the last few years of driving. Mostly interested in mods that make the car work better as a daily driver. I ride road and mountain bikes and so far have just gotten the car ready to do the sometimes ugly job of hauling crud covered bikes and people.

    So far:

    Winter mats
    cargo area mat
Drawtite 1 1/4 receiver hitch (nice, mostly hidden by bumper cover, and only 79 bucks)

In an initial flurry of upgrades (birthday and Christmas both in Dec :) ) I picked up an AccessPort(stage 1 installed), and have the following ready to go in:

    Kartboy shifter and bushings

Stromung axleback (I'm old, and the guy from SPD said keep the midpipe If I wanted more quiet with my lesser restriction)

    STi uppipe

    On order:

    Vishnu underdrive pullys

This will probably do it for me on the power end.

    Future:

Probably will pick up a rear sway bar and maybe do bushings here and there as I learn which make a real difference and which ones fit my driving style and application.

    Upgrade speakers

    grounding mod

Im currently shopping for pads, im having a hard time deciding which to get, I have seen some good deals including a kit with the following for $400.00

    Ferodo Brake Special for STi

    • Ferodo Front and Rear DS2500 Brake Pads
    • Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines
    • AP-551 Brake Fluid

If you want the vendors name let me know, i dunno what the thing is about non-vendor status shop promoting on the board.

Umm myself, im going to hold onto the stockers and a good fluid, and kill them off permanantly at the siegel school. As a pad that may be good for day to day and auto-x may get backplated during a hpde(Maybe not at lil tally as its smaller) and a good HPDE/Track pad may not suit your desires for day to day and so on. Not doing much more tracking after this so im hoping for a low dust, street/autox pad ultimately. However immedately upon return ill re-bleed, turn and replace pads. So im looking as well.

I cant wait too see the 6-speed setup, should be pretty hoss, going with an aftermarket clutch/flywheel at the same time?

Road Bikes? What do you ride Dave?

    whoa another PTC WRX wagon!!

If you ever have seen a white one around town thats me, but for now my car is in the shop.

Stromung axleback and shifter/bushings are in! The Stromung (axleback only) sound is outstanding from about 3k up. These were the easy mods...the uppipe looms.

hmmm, When I mentioned bikes I meant bicycles, and I have a few each for road and mtb. Road bikes include a Giant TCR2(bottom of their carbon framed bikes), Landshark (steel), and a run-o-the mill Cannondale R1000, with my old Litespeed Catalyst ti frame begging to be built up again.

GTscoob, good luck on getting a six speed in, I'll keep and eye out for you.

welcome dave! do you have the cross bars on your roof rails? if not, i do and it don't need 'em. i'll sell them to you if you want

Well crap. Already bought a new set of crossbars because I will occasionally be carrying a canoe. When I bought the Suby I did not realize there was so much aftermarket and used part availability. I'll be trying to take advantage of it more in the future.

bobby: yeah i have the ABC but i took it off after i installed the up/dp cuz i switched off the UTEC and did not want it to overboost....

mike: im still thinking whether i should keep UTEC or switch to ECUTEK... primarily considering the issue that with UTEC i can simply switch it off and run the factory ECU in case of problems... i wont have this ability with ecutek... either case, i'll be back on the 8th and we could talk some

I am possibly thinkiing of moving to ecutek in august, however I dont believe they have a two map version out for the STi yet, Id like to have a 100 oct and a 93 oct map. I believe they have it for the wrx where you press defrost and press full throttle and switch maps. Maybe by then.

    Jason

  29. GTscoob

    GTscoob Black is Beautiful

Thats one thing I was going to ask Scott about, because I wasnt sure if they had separate maps for Ecutek.

  30. FTZ

    FTZ ^.^

They have separate maps for the 02 and 03 WRX, not for the 04 and 05 WRX or STi. I found this out from Ken Cole at Rallyperformance.

  31. miloman

    miloman Retired Admin

these seperate maps for 02 and 03... are these the hi-det and lo-det maps or something else that you can switch on demand?

  32. Genya

Genya No Longer Up At Odd Hours

Well from what I understand, its not a full switch on demand in theory, but its easily done. Can do it while ignition is on, so no turning of the car to switch modes. Id imagine most times youd be stationary or able to hit full throttle without hitting another car or somethin. .

The tuner you select, you would tell him what you would want the settings to be used/tuned for.
    Examples of neat uses.

Fuel econ and full performance map.
    low and high boost setting
93 oct and *insert other oct* setting
A conservitive tune and a more agressive tune.
    etc. etc.

Its pretty neat, I hope it comes out for 04-05 soon.
In which case id better not notice the rear window is frosty while merging with 93 oct lol.
