    Hello everyone!

Sharif just finished up a tune on one of our customers cars that is going overseas. Let me say the AMS products continue to impress me with their fit, finish, and power achieved. He performed a Cobb Protune on this Subaru using 93 Octane. This car would be a nice E85 candidate. :D

I know that I should be more than satisfied with my 4-bolt set up, but I really want a tial v-band set up for some reason.

    Nice work on the 08!

That is not a Tial V-Band. I believe that kit uses the innovative Precision 6262 Turbo with their own V-Band housing.

Its cool how you can see the EBCS working in that plot. You can see the pulses of the WG opening and closing.

The Turbo is actually a PTE 5857 Turbo. .63AR Vband Housing.

Unless something has changed recently that isn't a tial housing...its vband inlet and oulet but its not made by tial and its not stainless

If it is a Tial it'll have TIAL stamped on it in big noticeable letters.

  9. Tray@Forged

    Tray@Forged Member

According to the original invoice of the build it has a Tial housing .63 AR.

  10. If its a 750r kit its not a Tial backside.

4600rpm spool on a 5857....the AVCS needs to be working harder than that.

Just talked with AMS. The customer who purchase the kit got the first ever 750 kit. And it was a typo on his invoice from the rep. Shows item line "Option Tial Housing" Which was left on from the 35r quotes. It runs the vband .63

Also the lag does seem a lot worse on the dyno then it does on the street. On the street, the lag is not very noticeable, as long as you are keeping the revs in the happy range. And keep in mind this turbo is sleeping at 20psi. Sharif just finished some final road tuning, and the throttle response is outstanding, and the thing pulls like a train to redline at just 20psi boost pressure.

The S256 on Sonny's car saw the same thing on dyno. It would spool slower than it looked on the dyno chart. On the street it was different. I saw this on both the Land and Sea and also a dynojet. But then, it was not a dual avcs car either.

  13. First 750 kit ever sold and you just installed it.

that kit must have been sitting in the customers basement for a while...

Lag usually isn't an issue in the happy range...if it was then all the V8's could keep up

    Cicio,

This car was built by AMS. It was their prototype car. The original owner of the car sold it. The new customer bought it and was referred to Forged Performance from AMS for some mechanical work, and Tuning. Do you have anything else you would like to assume?

I think it is safe to say we all assumed you guys did the sale and install as well as the tune.

  17. Tray,

I wasn't assuming anything...I was simply responding to what you led me to believe. .....edit: ↑↑↑ Yeah that :)

not sure what you're laughing at...essentially the identical kit was on my car and i was hitting peaks before 4k on my setup, which only has intake AVCS.

  23. I hear ya bro.

I am laughing because a guy with very little/if any tuning experience, that used to sell used cars and snowboards is trying to give me tuning advice.

You can't compare a boost curve on a load based dyno to something on a DJ. I thought it would nice to share a dyno plot, as most tuners rarely do, but if I knew it would create this much controversy, I wouldn't have done it. The loads are totally different. I have some runs with significantly increased loads that illustrate a faster spool, and others with less load that illustrate a slower spool. We altered loads throughout the tuning process to insure the calibrations are testing under an extreme array of loads.

Yup and my car with the 6262 turbo hit peak boost before that as well with only single avcs. Heck, my crappy T3/T04E turbo hit peak boost below 4K as well.

I hear you, I'm not trying to get into this shit storm (for once)...makes sense, dyno = tuning tool. That kit does look sexy as hell, customer should be quite happy w/ it

I am truly no trying to get into a pissing match with you. I've found that when I pull a car off a dynojet and put it on the street that very little changes in the way dyno loads the car vs the street. If anything I would say that the street puts more load on the car vs the 424x dynojet. So why would you not load the car on your dyno dynamics like it loads on the street. If I were you I would do my best to make sure that the load on the dyno and the dyno charts that I posted replicated street driving as closely as possible.

Onto the actual chart, Siegel once posted Drews chart vs Steves Chart I THINK. The boost curves were almost identical on those cars and looked very similar to this car. Do you mind posting those up for comparison.

    Thanks a whole bunch
    Matt

In my opinion, a load based dyno is a much better tuning tool than an inertia style dyno. Loads vary quite a bit by gear on the road, so unless you have a way of testing various load scenarios you will never have the safest tune possible....only a pretty dyno chart. Some tuners do this testing on the street, some do it on a load based dyno like a Mustand or Dyno Dynamics, and some don't do it at all. This is one reason many shops like AMS, and I think even TS are moving to load based dynos.

If Drew can provide me the last 6 of his VIN I can look up his chart pretty quickly. I remember his run from our dyno day.

Now thats funny... lol.. Since he has owned or built more high hp cars then your shop has ever produced.

Topspeed is moving to a load based dyno ONLY so they can get the AWD Porsches on it. If it wasn't for that I'm sure they would stick with what's worked for YEARS.

I can get that for you tonight, but that wasn't my high boost map. The toggle switch had come unplugged so it was my tune at 18lbs (wastegate spring). I'll try and swing by BG w/ a flash drive or something and get my 22-23lb dyno chart...this should help shut Coolrex up, too

Shut me up on what? Find one thing in 'this' thread where I'm bickering? Yes in the past I did but that was in the past.

Least he is honest and doesn't scam people to get his money. If he sells a Stage II turbo, that's what they actually get.

As usual, you have little understanding or context of what actually happened so leave it alone.

We've seen this movie before. Forged makes a thread about a build or tune or whatnot. TS and their nuthuggers come in and douche it up and make thinly veiled jabs at us. We come in and defend ourselves and the thread turns to crap. Wash, rinse, repeat....boring.

Before you start swinging for the fences, I can assure you that TS has far more skeletons in their closet than us. You don't want to kick this hornet's nest...please.

That said, I am willing to give TS the benefit of the doubt, and it sounds like they've improved their operation and customer service...so lets move on!

Fair enough I'll stop but DON'T dare threaten me (see in bold above)...I don't want to start that crapfest.

But since you FINALLY politely (almost but I'll take it) asked, I'll back off from here on out and lets leave it at that. I'll quit taking jabs and slamming Forged for good.

First thanks for acknowledging our improved customer service, our current "Crew" is awesome.

Sharif I really wasn't going to make any posts in your threads, like I said before I am done. But you had to make it personal and attack Cicio, which is when I felt like something had to be said.

As for all your threads turning to crap, I think you give us to much credit. It seems they do it all on their own. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2005439

Honestly I was really hoping with Siegel gone maybe things would change, maybe we could get along. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

I think we are all just touchy....myself included. In the past we've all bickered back and forth.

In all honesty I think Cicio was just saying that the car looks to be a little laggy but wasn't attacking Sharif. Due to past events Sharif took it personally and smirked back. Then the crapfest started and I myself along with a few others joined in.

So basically it's gonna be hard to say anything. I'm done with the crapfest myself I just posted above.....100% serious on that. We just need to post what we say and before submitting it CAREFULLY read the post and consider and ask ourselves......can this be taken in the wrong context. If so the quote that you don't mean it to sound as such.

    Thank you for that.
Before posting, I always ask myself if this is something I would say directly to a person's face in public. 99% of the time, this prevents me from saying something I might regret later. For the times that I slip up...I apologize. :)

Doug, I know it's hard to believe, but Scott is the most forgiven and kind person I've ever met in my life. He still says nothing bad about you...at least to me and always is willing to forgive and forget even when I want to lash out at someone. The reason our relationship is sour, is because you have a misconception of what happened 8 months ago when they came on board. I had always hope we could cooperate on business matters but we have to play nice in public for that to happen.
