I'm looking to find out whats up with my subaru. It just recently started knocking, like 2 days ago. You can hear the knock at 21s and 29s-31s. It sounds like a piston or lifter. Any ideas? Over a year ago my timing threw, and I had it repaired, DIY job, but it worked fine.

    Please Help!!

Well....you don't have lifters. The rockers ride directly on the cams and the valves are on the other side. Hard to tell from the video, but kind of sounds like rod bearing. I guess you checked for anything hitting?

One thing you can do is drain the oil and look for metallic flakes in the oil. If it is a bearing you should be able to see something.

We will be happy to help out in any way we can. But I will say, once mine started doing that, it only made it about 1/4 of a mile before it bit the dust :( The good part was I was waiting for the day so that I could start on a EJ257 build that could take some serious punishment :)

Check the oil for metal. You will know right away if the bearing are the problem.
