I finally finished installing v8 STi Take Offs with JDM Pink springs. I spent almost 3 hours to pull out this one bolt (left rear bottom strut bolt). oh well, that biatch finally came out at the end. damn.... my muscles were soring like crazy the next day like i worked out hard. newayzz... the result is GREAT. Great drop and Great handling. So far no problem with going up and down my drive way which i worried the most. People who drive STi, does your car bounce a lot??? I feel like the car bounces a lot when i drive on highway. so my exhaust sound has Wave effect. Hope that this will go away once springs settle down. oh yeah, here is my question. what will be the perfect alignment spec for everyday spirited street driving??? good shop recommendation and price??? thank you. pix are coming soon.
Yes mine did seem a bit bouncy im not sure if it is worse on the WRX, I didnt think it was too too bad. However that is a good feature if you have your lady with you. j/k. The upgraded strut top mounts removed a lot of that for me. Im not sure of optimal Alignment, but I hear that Grand Turismo. Does superb performance alignments. Jason
i read a lot of articles at nasioc about "STi Bounce" I guess I'm not the only one. Nothing comes free always. I guess i traded ride quality with much improved handling.
i went with -1.5 degree camber all round. I wish i could tell you that its more darty and all that jazz but my 55 series side wall rolls to much for me to be able to tell.:dunno
Why dont you try the stock STI alignment and then work with it from there, test rub, bounce, etc and adjust as you see needed?
I finally got my alignment done at Gran Tourismo East. I went to SOG first in the morning, but i heard that Scott was off for holidays. This was like last week. Here is the alignment spec with i'm sitting in the car Front ----------------------- Camber : -1.1 L -1.0 R Castor : 3.0 L 3.1 R Toe : 0 L 0 R Rear ----------------------- Camber : -1.7 L -1.6 R Toe : 0 L 0 R Thrust Angle : 0 deg I think Rear camber is little too much, but i didn't notice that until recently. I thought that they were not adjustable. Driving Impression : My car turns in much sharper and more stable during the corner. I do realized that my tires are the limiting factor of the traction now. Man... I wanna go for UP/DP... it depends how much rubber i burn during track day. haha
WRboXer, are you on stock suspension??? When I had stock suspension, i felt like my rims were about to touch the ground because tire rolled too much. I gave them about 40 psi front and 36 psi in the back. That helped out a lot. Try more air. I feel less body roll with stiffer spring/struts now. I'm pretty sure that bigger rims will improve cornering limits further more, but most likely i'm going to keep my 16" stock rims for my gf. I'm thinking about either Toyo T1-S or Michelin Pilot Sport as my next time choice.
No, i have fr and rr sway bars and eibach springs...but remember that i am running a 225 width tire on a 6.5 inch rim with a 50 series side wall. So in other words, major balloonage. Im sure once i get some decent rims everything will even out.
Where did you get your take offs and how much did they cost? I am looking at going that route. The adjustables seem nice, but I don't want to have to worry about the rear seat...
Gran Tourismo was pretty busy all the time which is good. All the Techs seemed like they cared about what they were doing. The guy who did alignment knew what he's doing and was pretty nice to me. It was a good, pleasant shop experience, but not the best. Struts that i have are not adjustable. I paid almost a grand for whole package (including alignment). I kinda wished that spend little more money on group-N tops, but no regrets. I'm pretty happy with the ride quality. Still didn't get a full chance to push to the limit for long time. I'm very very happy with the result.
TJ, I meant that I was interested in the STi takeoffs because they aern't adjustable. Sorry for the confusion. Did you find them locally?
I paid $450 shipped from Cali. There used to be a guy who was trying to sell his take-offs in ATL area. not sure about now. I would say check out Nasioc private sale often and eBay as well. I'm hoping that my struts will last long cuz i drive a lot. I can't wait to test out my new suspension at TRACK!!!
Cool, Ive never been there but heard some good reviews from a lot of people. The camber setting is good there. I couldnt get that much neg camber, i may have to go to bolts. That will be a nice setting fro the track day for sure. Jason
