If anyone wants to come by this afternoon evening Im going to start on heat wrapping my exhaust. If anyone wants to come by and lend a hand or just emotional support come on by. Email me if you need directions alexburch3@gmail.com :wavey:
there are very few people's opinions on this site that I actually trust. dipshit mcgee slowwrx is one of them...
Yep, overkill in the sense that I don't want it coming loose on my car and getting caught under a wheels and ripping half the exhaust off....so if thats overkill to you then yes..... Thanks Douche
Hey, fair game... no need to get all excited about it. Opinions are just that...opinions. I work with the stuff on a daily basis and use on a bunch of other stuff beside aircraft every night. So if the OP actually wants to go this route I have safety wire and pliers by the truckload. Much respect to you for actually using and recommending safety wire. Opinions for safety wiring: Don't over-tighten. Shoot for 6-8 twists per inch. Make sure you properly tuck that pigtail or it'll rip that wrap in no time. Use .032 good luck with your exhaust install and enjoy it !
I'm not excited, just letting you know the reason. Face, soak it in a bucket of water first and then you don't have to wear gloves. Matt
Thanks for all the suggestions I will heed the warnings. One of the greatest posts in my opinion "if you do not listen to us you will fail" Will I will now use safety wire every 6-7 inches and hose clamps on the ends. Also I will place the wrap in a bucket of water prior to use. What do you guys think of high temp paint prior to wrap? I will also be spraying with silicone coating after wrapping. Also any suggestions on turbo heat wrapping as well?
Agree, specially since you're installing it wet. Don't stress about the smoke and wonderful smell right after the install either.
i used high temp paint when wrapping my exhaust on the Buell. it looks better on exposed stuff, but i think it severly shortened the life of the wrap. The wrap got hard and brittle and eventually fell off after only ~10k miles. otherwise, i soaked mine in a bucket. and still had like ~20ft left over. but after no one seemed to want it for like 6 months, i chunked it. and yeah it will smoke like crazy for like a day or two
