Well I started working on this 02 sedan a few weeks ago. It was an all stock wrx. Just the what I wanted. The first few things i did was add an exhaust, replace brake pads and rotors on all 4 corners, and K&N drop in filter. This is my first subaru. I have been in the Honda game for about 8 years now. I still own a white 93 cx hatch. All comments welcome positive or negative. Any feed back is good. Some parts that I got: HKS 3 in catback, New brake rotors, Hawk HPS pads for front and regular pads for the rear, Ngk spark plugs, STi catless up pipe, and header wrap for the up pipe Ready to get to work On jack stands Wheels removed Old rusted brakes Rotors, calipers and brackets pulled. Zaxbys cups to catch the brake fluid. FTW All parts ready to get bead blasted and powder coated. If anyone needs some powder coating done my brother in law does it. Brackets powder coated Calipers power coated Now time to reassemble. Fronts done. Rears done I regret not go ahead and getting stainless steel brake lines cause this thing was a pain in the ass to bleed. Factory exhaust Just a comparison of factory and HKS HKS mounted K&N air filter. BTW what a pain in the dick to put in. The factory airbox sucks. . The spark plugs and up pipe to come some time this week. Thinking about waiting to do the up pipe when i get a down pipe and do it at one time.
If you think the air filter was a pain in the dick to put in, can't wait what you think of the spark plugs. Looks good so far, keep postin pics
Ya lol I saw the coil packs on the drivers side looked bad. Not sure what the passenger side looks like yet.
mother of god that car looks strangely familiar...I just returned from a trip up to DC to pick up Kakies car, exact same model, bone stock. Spark plugs suck, but there's a lot more things that suck that you'll deal with, like installing that STi uppipe. Get the right tools and you shouldn't have any issues. welcome aboard :wavey:
Ya ive noticed that things suck more on a subaru as compared to my honda. I am use to an open engine bay not a cramped one. Its all new and a learning process.
With the right tool, everything can come easy. I remember when I did mine, with not so right tool, lol. It sucked.
Especially when you put WRX plugs in an STi :keke: Welcome man. Great start. The stock airbox can be a pain to get the top lid to close and snap in right. Just gotta learn to not be scared to push on the inlet. It's a matter of twisting and turning it just right.
I ended up trimming the air filter slightly to get to fit right. I will be glad to get an intake on this thing.
Some pics I took today. I am no photographer by any means. Had some fish eye adapter for my lens cause i cant justify spending $400 on a real one. Ya the car is dirty but I was bored.
Looking good so far! Calipers look great! I'm glad to see someone went with a decent color instead of trying contrast. Silver / Black brakes are always pretty bad ass IMO
Yes but where is the best place to get one? Thanks. How is the monitor working for you? Ya i didn't wanna go with the red cause then I might be called a ricer.
It actually hasn't arrived yet... Fucking USPS. Wow. Processed through Sort Facility August 24, 2011, 11:52 pm ATLANTA, GA 30369 Expected Delivery By: August 23, 2011 Delivery Confirmation™ Insured
Woke up this morning and washed the car and changed the oil. Added a the first sticker to the car. A pic from last night
So I picked up a COBB intake last week from crash#2 for the wrx for a price that was to hard to pass up. Got a chance to install it yesterday. Adds a little extra sound also feels like a slight increase in the low end. Install took like 20 mins. The only thing that sucked was getting the silencer from behind the fender. Didn't snap a pic of the engine bay before but we all know what that looks like. I will be getting lowering springs from Jhon this week and hopefully order my downpipe by the end of the week. Brand new Invidia belmouth down pipe $230 shipped. Old out New one to go in. MAF installed. So I got a package as well. Brand new COBB filter. Must I say that rallysportdirect has really good shipping rates. New vs Old. The new one seems to be a bit smaller and doesn't have the metal end. . All done Also been busy with the hatch Thought it would make for a good picture A buddy gave me this. Opinions?
