... yeha I last visited almost 2 years ago.

Anyways, today I sold my 2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport. Got home, hit the net for my next DD.

2.5 hours later I was driving home in this

1999 Subaru Legacy SUS with 93k on the clock. Body is... decent ( a few dings here and there, pass rear corner is kind of flattened... ) but for $3300 when he was asking $4500, I'm content ^-^

... except the CEL came on later on tonight, and I noticed a sharp decrease in gas mileage. Hello new sensors.

    Woo blown headgaskets!

    :|

( seriously - car overheated this AM - brought it to Brandon at AllPro this afternoon - thermostat was rigged to stay open and the rad was emptied )

I have to say though, he's really helping me out on this one :)

Well, on a hopefully better note, I reached out to the seller. While sold via CL from his home, the bill of sale states a dealer/llc, barely any basis here for a lemon law, but still something.

Sent him a text saying FYI it'd behoove you to get all cars you sell inspected if you are a dealer. Subaru has blown headgaskets.

Not sure if he was just feigning or honestly in disbelief, since he claims it never overheated on him - which, I could see honestly. Full rad of distilled water <_< with a stuck open thermo, and you not really driving it around? With it overheating through the reservoir.

Explained to him how the car was rigged to hide the HG, so last text was him thinking on a resolution that would make us both happy. I told him if it was something I'd agree to, that it would be commendable on his part for making it right.

Tomorrow/today I may offer up the idea of how he feels about covering the cost of repairs, or at least a fair portion of it.

As much as I'd want to, that's out of my budget. :(

... though I think it'd be fun to get another set of wheels, dirt tires, rally armor mudflaps, a bullbar with some hella fogs, and upgrade the sway bars and maybe a front strut bar...

Well the engine runs peachy short of the CEL coming back after getting some vacuum lines replaced. It sucks on gas :/

Also need to drain and fill the trans - I had to wonder if oil was put in the transmission due to the color of the fluid -_-

Eh, there could be grounds for a lemon law off of an FTC law

Did you buy your car from a dealer or private party?

"First, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has what's called the Used Car Rule that requires dealers to provide consumers with a Buyer's Guide with warranty and other types of information. If the dealer has in any way failed to abide by the FTC Used Car Rule, you may have the basis for a legal claim.

Second, each state has what are called Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP) laws. If the dealer has, for example, made verbal promises or didn't tell you about issues relating to your used car, you may have a cause of action. Third, Georgia's version of the Uniform Commercial Code may provide you with relief. Finally, the Truth in Lending Act and the Federal Odometer Act might also be valuable in obtaining lemon justice. Sure...but you have to prove that they said what you claim. How do you plan on doing that. Just because there is a law there, doesn't mean that it can be enforced.

Heater core just took a dump -_- nothing like coolant steam coming out of your vents - sigh, I think at this point I'm done throwing money at the car. I'll be throwing it up for sale here shortly. Already sunk ~$2200 into the car, really can't afford to sink in another ~$1000

Damn that sucks to hear. I'm really losing faith in people anymore, seems everyone is trying to get ahead by screwing someone else. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

No kidding. It makes me wish GA had a used car lemon law - it happens though. It was my mistake for making an impulse buy on the car ( typically not like me ).

Threw it up for sale on here, throwing it up on CL in a bit for more ( only fair to offer a better price to WRXATL :D )

Sucks because I like the car too ( esp the styling )
