Hey all whats goin on, just checking in. Had a rear left shock start the Clunking B.S and been fighting with the subaru dealer about it and they say while it is definately the Strut no warranty. Had myself sour for a bit, but its ok. My wife and I will remove the strut insert as others had tonight and see if it will reduce the clunk until I can possibly move to coilovers. Other than that hope to be finishing the front part of my suspension at the end of the month, (Front swaybar, steering rack bushings, Poltec Endlinks, and Cusco 4pt lower arm brace). Events I will be hanging at this month are the Ride and Drive up at Gwinett County Fairgrounds this Sunday. Also wanted to see who is signed up for the subaru challenge in October? Hopefully will get some of us to go and have a good time. Jason
:eek2: Sorry to hear about that mishap, best of luck replacing. Let me know if I can help. As for events, I dont know, I'm trying to plan my next couple weeks out (and it never works )
Well the clunk is now fixed, after $83 at subaru and getting denied, one Tech Ragging my car to diagnose a 5mph clunk and 2 disputes later. Im not sure if tightening the 14mm nut at the bottom or greasing the strut shaft fixed it, but it definately wasnt a loose nut or bolt as the dealer inspected the install, removed and re-installed the strut, and all was well and torqued to spec, to no avail. Now I can bide my time and see if it works.
If I could think of an even remotely possible reason for the problem I would have said it, but racking my tired brain with out any luck. :hs:
Well yesterday removed the strut and slid the insert out and moly lubed the internal bumpstop, strut shaft and reassembled, and the problem is gone for now. Jason
good thing ur pronlem is solved... at least temporarily... can you give me details on the subaru challenge?
http://www.subaruchallenge.com/ There is the website ^_^ I signed up under SM, should be a good time! Jason Williams (Still clunk/rattle free atm)
Well Started driving around today, happy that the strut clunk was over. Then I make a right turn and hear a POP/CLUNK come from the rear. Drive home take a look underneath, and sure enough its a broken endlink. Curiously enough I had taken pictures while doing my strut fix where the endlinks look like they were rubbing up against the trailing arms. I will take a picture of the broken end links later on. Now time to install the poltecs I suppose. Good thing I was planning to do them this month or the dealer could get me twice Jason
Yeah its its the endlink, I mean to get some more pictures but fell asleep till a minute ago, supposedly this is a result of the rear sway bar "flipping from its normal position allowing the endlink to come in contact with the control arms. Jason
Upon further review, I realize that the sway bar endlinks may have been doing the clunking all along. I am still very upset that the techs did not notice the swaybar upside down when taking my $85.00 troubleshooting fee. Jason
Further Update: Still waiting on the durn rear swaybar. Been almost 30 days.... :'( Not that I would have any free time to put it on anyways..
Just got here today, Now need to get a spare chance to install the suckers. May recruit help soon if I can get a spare hour or two in the next century to get it done. Looks like it will all be here in time. Jason
Yeah there will be a new set of mods to chuck in for that I think, I am proally gonna just put on the rear sway and links on tommorow or friday, then save the front sway/brace/links for later. The car leaning to the side is making me sick have to fix before sanity leaves the building.. Jason
