Ok, so I've posted the same thing on some other local forums before as I've never really used WRXAtlanta much before, but honestly the immaturity I got was a complete waste of time, but I need a new guy so here goes... First off, I'm not looking to give anyone the "homie hookup" like other people have thought before. I'd really rather hire someone who is serious that I don't know and become friends with them, rather than hire a friend who isn't serious. I'm completely business comes first at work, but understand it's a pretty laid back job. So anyways, here's what I need/am looking for: 1- 2 Lube Techs Experience is not needed at all. Serious work ethic. We've fired others that don't want to as I won't babysit people. You don't have to have a car, but you have to be able to get to work and on time. A good attitude and an open mindset. What the job consists of: Changing oil Vacuuming cars/washing windows Being professional and friendly to customers Details: $7.30 starting pay. Hourly bonus incentive for budget hitting months which equates out to about a $.20-$.40 per hour raise depending on some variables. 15-40 hour week potential depending on how hard you work and what we can budget and need Opportunity to become an emissions inspector Promotions/pay raise greatly depends on your motivation and what you want to do within the company. I will be leaving when I graduate in May so keep that in mind that a management spot will be open soon and we always try and promote from within. Flexible work scheduling within reason. My store really tries to take care of each other. We're open Mon-Fri 8-7, Sat 8-6, Sun 10-5 If anyone is seriously interested or has any questions pm me first. Do not just show up there in jeans and a t-shirt and say "Ryan off WRXAtlanta said I can have a job, when do I start?" A few kids did that last time around and a. none of them got hired, and b. made me look stupid which I did not appreciate and annoyed the other managers there. If you want to just stop by, come Fri- Mon as I'm there open to close all weekend, come dressed business casual and cleaned up, and ask for me (Ryan) and I'll get you an application and talk to you then. Thanks guys. I look forward to actually getting someone good from this time around. I would much rather try and help out someone who is truly into cars and support the scene rather than deal with any more dumbass kids off the street who just want a little cash.
By the way moderators, I'm not on here much so if this is in the wrong section please move it to the appropriate one. Thanks.
I'm not trying to rag on you, or the company you work for, but I doubt you're really going to get anybody who wants to work very hard or has a good work ethic for a nickel over minimum wage.
never know, lots of people are lookin for jobs these days. I start a new job on saturday and if it wasnt for that i would have been at jiffy lube tomorrow lol
Thats what wrong with people, if you aren't willing to start at the bottom how can you work your way to the top. My mom works for GPC (Genuine Parts Company((NAPA))) The CEO started as a parts runner at a local NAPA. Some companies reward hard work, maybe this is one of them.
^^ Matt is correct on this one. Everyone wants to start at the top of the food-chain without having to put any effort in. Hell, the CEO of McD's started out at a local establishment and worked his way up. Anything is possible as long as you're willing to work for it.
I know that a lot of the guys here already make more money than that, but like I said, there is a management spot opening up soon once I leave, again not that it pays that great, but it's put me through college, and paid for the builds of two cars as well as afforded me other fringe benefits of being able to service my car with ease with my oil. I just figured maybe someone would know someone who lives this way who isn't a waste of my time and needs a job. I mean $7.30 an hour is better than $0 an hour right? Plus if you're not a moron, there is a potential to move up and I can train you to do so. Myself and my friend who was the current manager both have been offered higher jobs, but neither of us want them as he's leaving to be a firefighter, and I'm graduating and moving on to bigger and better things. But thanks for the support guys. Have received some good interest from this.
example here: we contract out our janitorial staff here. one guy worked pretty hard and did a good job. our mechanical contractor had a guy retiring at the end of the month, so we had extra money budgeted for someone. the kid was in his early 20s and was here sweeping the floors and was given the opportunity to earn a mechanical/HVAC apprenticeship while working at a google facility. he brought someone else's urine in for his drug test and was rejected during screening. he was told 30 days prior he needed to pass ONE DRUG TEST. he failed to do so kid with no education sweeping the floors -> contracting at google making $30/hr. oh well. the ones griping about no work are usually those with the least skill set or work ethic.
Ignore the "idiocracy". Sounds like a fun job and something you can build on. Cases like these is why people are crying that there is no work. Everyone seems to be looking for that job with high pay and low demand. If I didnt have a job, I would be down there today. And just to add. I started at the company I'm with under TRC, being a temp, just picking orders in the warehouse. Four months down the road, company hired me full time. Only 18 months later, I am supervising the warehouse and building my way into management. Hard work pays off.
Agreed, attitudes of 'I don't want to work for minimum wage' are why this country is so screwed up. And those same people are the ones griping about foreigners coming in to take those jobs. Then they complain there aren't any better payin ones. Well, that's how it works, lots of bottom tier jobs, and less and less as you get towards the top. Now this country has a shitload of college graduates who have never worked a minimum wage job or have zero real world experience all vying for management positions that require experience.
I agree with most of y'all on this one. Every one feels entitled to makin 20$ an hour or somethin without ever working up to that. I used to work with a guy that was always sayin crap like "no way am I doin that, I don't get paid enough" when told he might have to take apart and clean cash register. Needless to say, he didt last. I don't know where people get this entitlement from... Dang kids these days! (says the 20 year old) Lol 05WRXSTI.. If your serious about tryin for this job, then even if you don't get it congrats for even trying. And for realizing that you can't start off being CEO of the company lol
Wow, totally forgot about this thread but I found it and I'm being called a lazy idiot? I've worked several minimum wage jobs and worked up quickly. I've always been in the top few employees in productivity and overall quality of work everywhere I've worked. I don't agree with this, except for the high school/young kids. They need to start at nothing and move up. They don't usually have any real bills to pay, so it's easier for them to accept a lower wage. Anybody with real bills, simply can't support themselves on a wage like that. It's the attitudes of the higher positions within MOST (not all) companies that every extra profit ONLY goes to them, and less and less gets kicked down to the hard working employees. Cost of everything is going up, but the incentives and wages for the employees actually performing the work get very little. Eventually the managers and execs kill the employees ethic by expecting more and more work for the same money. Then the next employee is expected to perform the same work for even less because so-and-so does it. And the snowball begins. The position of the economy is even more reason for this; they try to scare employees because there is a ton of people that need jobs, so you should work for next to nothing. If not, goodbye, I'll find someone cheaper. Has nobody seen Office Space? The problem is more and more work and he never sees an extra dime. Again, I'm not bashing but I do think it's hard to find people to invest a lot into a minimum wage job. I did see that they have the opportunity to be a manager soon, so that's definitely an incentive. Good luck, I hope you do find a great employee.
