Something is missing...I just can't put my finger on it... It was a long night but all of the wiring is complete. Both amps and audio processor were removed from under the front seats to get ready to move to the trunk along with two more amps that are being added. 4 gauge power wire was removed and 0 gauge welding wire was run all the way to the trunk. All speaker wires for the 3 way front stage were extended to the trunk. RCA's were run down the center of the car to the trunk. I am going to try to get it in some sort of listening condition today and try to make it to the meet tonight...but I'll have to see how the day goes.
So we got the fiberglass portion of the trunk work completed yesterday. As some of you already know...when it has to do anything with my interior, I enlist the help of my friends over at JPM Coachworks. They just hired on a new employee that used to do fiberglass work on hotrods, so it was the perfect opportunity for me to see how it is done correctly and plan out how the trunk is going to flow with the rest of the interior they have done in my car. Tape Stage Foil Stage Cutting and Templating the Kyntex Laying down the 2nd layer (1st layer of Kyntex) Letting it cure... Now I need to get to work on the wood and laying the rest of the system out. I also got done with half of the RCA's (with the help from Alex at JPM as we sat catching up over a beer).
I'd bed line the exterior of the glass, adds a little strength and protects from rub. throw a couple of those silica dry packs in between at final install and rock on
It has been a long weekend but I finally have music back in my car! All 4 (yes 4!) Massive Audio BX4 amps are installed and wired up. This is the preliminary wiring just to get everything tuned. Some of the wires will be changed and cleaned up...then covered with black w/red stripe TechFlex. Another panel will be installed over top of everything that will have removable panels to see the amps and subs...that also hides all of the wiring at the same time. It will also give full function back to the hatch. For those that haven't been following along. Each driver (tweeter, midrange, mid bass, sub) on each side is now getting 460 watts RMS off of a bridged channel of each amp. Yes...even each individual tweeter is getting 460 RMS each. All of the processing is taken care of via a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3. I really wanted to install that with the amps but there just wasn't room, so it is under the passenger seat.
For those that were wondering...here is how everything looks while I am driving around. As I mentioned before, I am going to make a custom floor that has removable panels...but the factory one works for now.
looks good robb, i would like to do something very similar to this with my car in the trunk. Perhaps some concepts could be "borrowed"?
Jeff Smith ATL and I spent some quality time together with the car at Cars of Atlanta while he scoped and tuned the audio. I really like working with Jeff. Just a cool guy to hang out with and he does an incredible job on the tuning. For a guy like me that doesn't have a lot of experience in this area...that is invaluable. The result. HOLY S%$T! That is the sound I was looking for. Simply awesome.
Yea, only reason I recognized it was that need for speed expedition in the background was sitting outside the other day when I passed it. lol
Thats' funny. I drive by there everyday coming and going to work. I love the orange Bentley that's there a lot.
Second seat went in today at JPM Coachworks. More interior work is coming in the next 5 weeks. Stoked.
daniel climbed up and pee'd on it while robb was cleaning the wheels engrossed in his progress grunting like tim allen
The new dash went in today along with the new gauge hood and shifter surround. The cluster hood is now back to the factory piece wrapped in black Alcantara with black leather on the front lip. The logo was deleted on the shifter surround and moved up to the gauges. To add some contrast to the center console, we added red stitching where the factory line is on the surround. The ATI gauge cluster was cut and bondo'ed to the dash and then the dash was completely wrapped so it all looks like one unit built to be that way. The ATI pod was then painted and finished off with black stitching on the edges. It will house a Defi boost gauge, Defi oil pressure gauge and an Innovative wideband gauge. I'll be taking better pictures of everything once the interior is finished over the next couple of weeks.
More rig shots...this time with the new Chargespeed front lip and side skirts. Some of Ben's (xluben) shots of my car from the weekend. You can see all of them in this thread ---> A Lot of Rumble and a Light Breeze in a Windy City - NASIOC Me rigging my car.
Gotta say I like those skirts so much better than the ones you had before. Nice rig shot. Ever worry about hitting something with your camera?
Not really. I am only ever moving the car about 10 feet and it isn't even running. Get Low by rsutton198 | oneninety8.com, on Flickr
Thanks for showing the rigging. That's really interesting to me. About what are you're settings? Are you holding the shutter open with a remote or do you use a set timed shutter release? The apature looks like it's closed way down to get the long exposure and the depth of field is adjusted in PS. Or, do you not share your secrets LOVE the shots, though.
Thanks! I'm probably going to have to borrow you and your car too. Its going to be a long while before I get all the bits I want for my car's ressurection
