why is there such a dip in the factory torque curve? did they try and do that stupid thing where they lean it out for emissions purposes, much like they did on the 2007 STi's?

From what I've read, it's the injector switch over

it's not causing the motor to run lean, is it? Is that....safe?

no it's actually causing the motor to run rich for about 4 power strokes. at WOT the BRZ's port injection and direct injection are shooting simultaneously into the combustion chamber. causing the system to read rich until air flow catch's back up. The dip in the graph is the blurp from the MAF basically saying uhhh?? need more air?? HELP!! not to mention the injectors in the intake are coating the back of the valves. That's partly why these cars with a SC or turbo with low boost make great power. extra gas just needs that extra air.

It's NA....and not running lean. VERY FAT from the factory.

Took the car to All Pro this morning to get my exhaust swapped out... as always, they did an awesome job taking care of me and getting me in and out quick. Here's the "new" exhaust

It's the Nameless Performance "track" pipe. My nameless muffler developed a small hole and they're going to fix that for me under warranty. They also are amazing!

it's only one pipe!.. fail :thumbsdow I don't think BRZ's look good with only one pipe.. my opinion doesn't matter though.. it's your car. for some reason I think one exhaust pipe makes the car look off.

don't get me wrong, I hate the pipe...but it's something while they fix the normal exhaust. :)

It will be, without a doubt, a while before I get the other one back on.

coincidentally, I feel like I'm getting better mpgs now than before...

Congrats on the new wheels Matt! Can't wait to see them on the car.

What kind of rubber are you running?

Nice. I have some 17x9 in SBC I'm waiting to put on the car. For some reason all of the supplied Enkei valve steams are leaking though. Weirdest thing I've seen.

I opted to retain the stock TPMS, so I'm using those stems. The Enkei ones sure are pretty though!

That looks fantastic Matt! I got the Eibach Pro Springs for mine, and I'll be going for Enkeis in the coming months. I'll likely copy your size / fitment. I'll have to decide between the Conti's and the Pilot SS. I like the Gold and White :)

I was torn between the 2 tires and ultimately decided on the conti's first... Michelin has hands down, the best warranty on the market right now...and it's a great tire...but not what I need yet.

I'm getting ready to order a set of RCE springs to drop it down a bit.

How are you liking the Conti's. That is the tire I have considered to replace the stockers.

I like them! They were loud as shit the first couple days as the initial compound was wearing off, but they've since quieted down and are quite grippy...which is good and bad. No more sliding the back end out at any given moment, but at least I can turn corners faster. :)

    small update.

Saturday, the MazdaSpeed Forums had a dyno day at bATLground. I decided to stop on by and then put the car on the dyno. Here's my graph:

I'm pretty happy with that, considering the power mods (high flow cat/perrin inlet tube). The tq dip doesn't seem quite as freaky as others I've seen...or is it?

I have definitely seen more tq dip in other brz dyno graphs.... I guess your mods some how made it less of a dip?

His tq looks very close to yours and beating ya in many rev bands. I think a stock Si will outrun a BRZ....until some good twisties are involved (maybe).

But when I drove my co-workers I liked how responsive his BRZ was...250ish (bolt on SC kit) would be perfect.

It's been a while, but I did some new stuff to the car! I've done a few things here and there that aren't really noteworthy, but last night I finally upgraded the taillights and added the 4th brakelight mod.

Tails are Tom's DOT approved(reflector on side of tails) clear lens, courtesy of JChonn13

4th brakelight is an easy mod, mostly just wiring, but it's also plug and play, which is awesome. You can see it in the second pic. It's lit up when the tails are on, then lights up brighter when the brakes are pressed.
