I might be interested too, are you getting the price for just the fogs, or the JDM Bumper Beam also, or do you plan on modding your bumper beam?

I don't think the lights would take you out of AS, but the required bumper beam mods would.

If you swap BBeams then yes you would be in SM (with your tires). You can modify your OEM beam so that you bend the material out of the way vs remove it. PITA but it works.

Or you could just run your original covers over the lights when you auto-x. ;)

On a local level, no one will protest the mod.

I recommend http://www.gruppe-s.com vs KOI too. Kevin is way overpriced IMO. Max will take care of you and he sells the JDM BBeam.

Swapping the beam would put you in the prepared classes. To stay in SM or SP, you would have to go the modification route for the OEM beam, only removing 1lb max from it.

JDM beam is illegal for STU also.

They do look quite nice though.

How would the rules people know that you are running an aftermarket bumper beam?

Trey, how much of a weight difference is there between the OEM bar and covers versus the lightweight beam and Fog lights, mounts, wiring, etc?

I'd think that the weight you lose with the beam is just put back in there with the monster fogs and the surrounds.

You are correct, hence the removal of my front mount. :D

Weight difference is roughly 30-40 pounds.

The JDM beam meets all USDM front impact requirements, just not Canada, hence the 10 mph beam vs the 5-7 mph JDM beam. This is one reason the EVO is not sold in Canada.

Ah, I did not know that the JDM beam met all the impact requirements. I may actually get one now...I thought it would be substantially less resistant to crushing.

Just got off the phone with Kevin, he's offering $599 for the clear fogs shipped to your door.
The package comes with a pair of painted fog light surrounds, fog lights in the color of your choice, and all necessary hardware.

The Package Plus comes with a lightweight bumper beam and energy absorber which is required for installation unless you modify your stock bumper beam to accommodate the depth of the fog light surround pieces. You will receive mounting brackets and screws, a relay, and switch)

Application: 2004+ RS, WRX, & STi (including wagons).

Your WRX is already wired with fog lights or your STI comes prewired for them, so no splicing is required. This is a plug and play system. JDM bumper beam required unless you modify the stock bumper beam to allow for proper fitment of the fog facia/surround.

Like I mentioned before, Kevin is PROUD of his parts.

Max at Gruppe-S has the same deal (Clear lens w/ the beam) for $100 less everyday. ;) You can get the colored lights for $30 more. FREE SHIPPING too.

    http://www.gruppe-s.com/Subaru/subext.htm

I got mine from them and it came with EVERYTHING you need for plug and play install. It was very simple.

If you are handy with tools, you can modify the USDM BBeam and not have to spend the extra $99 for the JDM beam.

...and you don't NEED the energy absorber either. I used the JDM BBeam for a year w/o one and never had an issue with sagging or bumper cover movement. It's not necessary.

I am sure I can get him to price match.

Personally, I'd take the JDM beam over US for the weight loss. I'm not even putting the fogs in.

You asking me? Mine are as bright as any other foglight on the market. Looks EXACTLY like a Lexus fog light.

maybe a little off topic, for the 04+wrxs wouldn't it look great if they had a mesh cover like the ones on the bugeyes. Like the STi covers but see through and with a thin lip painted black. i wish i had some photoshop skillz

Well, as Trey puts it you could go through gruppe-s right now, but I am currently working up a contract to do some work with sojdm.com. If this goes through, I will hook the club up with a GB on these.

    Until then...

    Cheers,

You either cut to fit or replace with JDM bumper beam (7mph crash rating instead of USDM 10)
