Anyone want to do a road course?

The Import Showdown is pleased to announce our newest event. Import Showdown is doing road racing! The new Import Showdown Track Day brings all of the character of our Import Showdown drag events to Talladega Gran Prix in Talladega, AL! If you have been looking for a chance to do road racing or just want a great value to do it, this event won't be beat - our event offers lots of track time at half the price of most road course events, including many at this very track. Act fast as slots will go very quickly!

Talladega Gran Prix is a 1.33 mile road course just 2 hours west of Atlanta (and similar distance from Macon). The course is technically challenging and will offer a complete day of fun racing or watching!

    When: Saturday April 15th, 2006
Where: Talladega Gran Prix in Talladega, AL (directions available on website)
What: Road Course Racing at a 1.33 mile course
Who: Any Import or Domestic vehicle is welcome. Sorry, no motorcycles or karts.
Cost: $125 for racers, Spectators are welcome and encouraged.

This event does require pre-registration. Registration opens Feburary 1st!

For more information on attending, as a spectator or as a racer, please visit the Import Showdown Track Day website at www.istrackday.com

As with all Import Showdown events, this event is NOT for profit and put on by volunteer members of GA DSM.

Is this a time trial type of compeition or a full on road race? Do people have to have any prerequisite ie like an SCCA road racing license?

edit: Answered my own question. So i guess this a Track day not a Road Race.

We are going to do time competitions. You won't compete directly with the racer on the track, just the clock. If the event is the success, we will definitely look at adding real competition if that is what people are interested in. Since it's just timed and open runs, no special license is required. Just be 18 with a valid drivers license.

I do have some bad news, due to double scheduling by the track - we have been bumped to Saturday April 15th. This may be good news for people who have some work to be done. I apologize for this.

Glad to see so much interest, we are definitely looking forward to it!!

I signed up Mere for this event. Might want to change the title to reflect the changed date.

I am working on my crx that weekend, and won't be able to attend.

I probably won't be able to make it. Just a week or two earlier than me getting my clutch finished.
