I need to know how to take out and install injectors in my 04 wrx. I know how to take them out and all, what i am asking is if ther is any thing i need to do before and after i install the injectros?

Engine management needs to be setup for the new injector size.

As for installation, just put them in like you took the old ones out. Just make sure to grease up the o-rings first.

If you haven't done injectors before, there are some things you need to be aware of, but you say you know how to pull them, so you should be fine.

I havent pulled them before i just know where they are and how to pull them out, i was just wondering if there were any steps i need to take before pulling them. And they are the stock injectors so i shouldnt have to do any engine management shoulds I?

If you're just replacing stock with stock (why, by the way?) then you don't have to worry about it.

The biggest gotcha is unbolting not only the top two visible fuel rail bolts, but the ones on the *front* of the engine too. Otherwise you have to bend the heck out of the rail and don't have much room to get injectors in/out.

The green brackets are a horrible pain. If you don't want to put them back on (most don't) you need to cut the pipe off the driver's side bracket or get something else to connect the breather hoses together.

I haven't done subie injectors before, but make sure you relieve the pressure in the fuel system first. High pressure fuel to the face isn't funny... unless it's someone you don't like. Or it's beer fuel. 8)

Well, on my 03, you start by bleeding the pressure out by shutting off the roll over valve, which is a little (green?) plug in the passenger footwell. Then start the car & let it run until it dies to relieve fuel pressure.

In order to get to the injectors, you have to disassemble a fair bit of stuff. On the driver side, you pull the battery, the washer fluid tank, and the nasty green bracket everyone bitches about (mine were dark grey for some reason). These brackets are a PITA, so expect to have to disasemble even more stuff in order to get to all of the bolts holding them in place.

On the passenger side, you remove the airbox, the antifreeze box that feeds your turbo, the line that feeds your power steering pump (factory manual wants you to pull the entire PS pump, I highly recommend just disconnecting the line & covering w/ a rag), and the other nasty green bracket.

At that point, you're left with just the fuel rail brackets, which are fairly straight forward to remove. There are 2 larger bolts that you can clearly see from the fuel rail, and usually 2 more smaller ones further up or down the fuel line. Once the rail is loose, you should be able to life it up enough to simply pull the injectors out. Ther's no clips or anything, just a snug fit from the rubber gromets. Just FYI, I highly HIGHLY recommend replacing the o-rings as well when you install new injectors.

And you're replacing factory injectors with the same size factory injectors? Uh, yeah, why??? But, yeah, so long as they flow the exact same amount, you shouldn't need any engine management. If you were to switch to large injectors, you'll quickly notice that the car won't run much over 4000 RPM. You'll have to talk to Scott Siegel about this, but the short version is above 4000 RPM, the car no longer auto corrects for rich/lean, so it will default back to your normal operating tables (AKA, it will use the flow rates for your old injectors).

I did pull the washer fluid tank, but not the battery. There was plenty of room to work without doing that.

I actually managed to wrestle the bracket out without moving the PS line... but it might've helped if I'd known about that.

Now, the o-rings come with the new injectors right.

One more question, might sound stupid but which side of the motor is pistons 2 and 4 or are they on opposite sides of each other?

They should, unless you're talking USDM STi injectors which would not work particularly well.

How much time should I set aside for my pinks swap?
