I am bouncing around some ideas and I wanted to know if SoG is still offering cars at invoice if we bring in our printed out WRXAtlanta profile. Just so everyone knows. I am thinking about this not because I am unhappy with the RX8. I really enjoy the car till I go to the gas station. The 18-20mpg (which anything over 19 is rare 18 is more common) is really hurting. I drive 45 miles each way to work. To get over 20mpg you have to shift the RX8 at 3500rpm or less. When you rev to 9K this is very low and very hard to do. If you guys have any suggestions that would be great too. Richard
I averaged over 23-25 was what I averaged in my 2004. The real kicker is I got that and I didn't really baby it. I got better milage at the Dragon with my 2004 than I get driving the RX8 to work and back(19-20 in the WRX at the Dragon and 18-19 driving mostly HIGHWAY) in the RX8) Thanks Alex. Maybe a week or 2 but I will talk with them.
Too lazy to do the math, but in my WRX a full tank with 96% highway miles got me 356 miles before the yellow light came on. The tank is between 14-15 gallons. And on average, I get 275-300 to the tank.
That is about what I got. I get about 250 and the light comes on in the RX8. I used to fill up the WRX at 25 and it would take about 11 gallons. It takes nearly 14 gallons for the RX8 to got he same distance. I know 3-4 mpg doesn't seem like much but it can make a difference. I have not had a single tank average over 20mpg. I have no idea how they estimate 24 highway on this car.
i know this is not what you want to hear but dont go to SoG to trade your RX-8 in, the best the would offer me was 10k for an 04 with 28k miles and sports package. your best bet would be to try and find a used wrx at a mazda dealer.
I would shift between 4-5K in my car. The fuel economy actually went up after Doug tuned it. Only 1mpg but it did go up. I would even give it hell on off/on ramps. I have always been able to milk cars for good economy. The RX8 though does not respond to trying to milk it. You have to shift really low in the RPM band and then you nearly bog the car. I drove it in those low RPMs once and gained 1mpg. For the trouble it was not worth 1mpg to drive the car like that.
I am just bouncing ideas around at this point. I don't know what I will do. I like the car but the fuel is draining my bank account so bad I can't save any money to get a beater. I go through 2.5-3 tanks a WEEK. All my spare money goes to gas and it sucks.
same here but i would think you would want to to upside down on the rx-8 by like $10k at that rate just keep the car. try taking it to carmax, even though they only offer wholesale value on the car, they will be better than SoG. im not sure if its still avaiable but there is a 02 wrx with a blown motor for sale on nasioc right now going for 6.5k.
If you want I can talk to Gary and find out if they have any used cars that he recommends? Or how much he would give you for your car, if that is what you are looking at!
I am looking to trade my 2005 RX8 with 8500 miles. I know on the website they have a 2006 TR with 4500 on it. I am interested in that one. I was gonna think all of it over and talk about it with some people who give me good advice. Fuel economy is the only real reason I want to trade it. I have a choice right now. I either trade cars or I work 6 days a week everyweek. Neither choice is an easy one or great one.
this is neal from sog. i see that you have a 2005 rx8 and would like to trade for a wrx. please feel free to contact gary sikes or myself if you have any questions. also feel free to bring in your rx8 so we can take a look at it. we also have special incentives for our wrxatl members. 678-475-3500.
Well I am thinking about it. :wiggle: I am gonna decide somethign this week. The thing is that there are many downsides to either choice I make. I will let you know.
Service is one thing I am not worried about. I know they will take care of me. :bigthumb: Thanks for the advice folks. I have some hard choices to make.
Alex, Gary Sikes here at SOG, I know about the appraisal done on your RX-8. Fact of the matter is when we looked at your trade there wasnt a market for your RX-8 considering the fact that you stated your car had been in an accident and we are not a big store and we already had one on the lot. Luckly we sold our current RX-8 today. Unfortunatly the market for ANY RX-8 is poor due to poor gas mileage and speed. The $10,000 trade in value was based on the facts stated above, 1/3 of those facts are no longer an issue (we dont currently have an RX-8). So your car may have more of a value to us now. Also Joe Powers my manager is here with me as I type this Statement he is telling me the estiment of a 10K wasnt given by him. Hes afraid unless you got that in writing its not an appraisal. The 10K value may have been a statement made in conversation only. Joe is the only person that can put a value on a car here at SOG. I do not want to turn this thread into a session about trade values, however I WILL defend myself and SOG against untrue and unfair statements. As a sales person here I have yet to lose a deal stricktly due to trade in value and neither will Joe Powers.
If they can't give you much more than 10K I'd say no. You might do better at a Mazda dealer that just happened to have a WRX on thier lot. But if you can get into a WRX without getting butt-raped it would be a different story.
Yeah I did look at local mazda dealers but they wanted more for a used WRX than a new one from SoG. Yeah I am not gonna do it if I don't get a fair values on the RX8. I will just work more to offset the fuel cost.
Well I meant overall service. I had read that that Neil in service was gone. He did take care of me but rubbed me the wrong way sometimes. I will be calling someone in sales this week most likely.
Thanks. I will let you know what I am gonna do this week. Thanks again everyone. Made me feel better about all this stuff. :wiggle:
I don't think so either but It all depends on how you drive. I have started to fill up @ half tank vs full tank I fill up more but at least im not droppin 25-30 bucks to fill up.
Impreza gas tank is 15.9 gallons.....I know cuz mine is usually at .4 left when I go to fill up. oh, and I can usually get to about 340 miles on a tank in the RS.
damn right, it has a 15 gallon gas tank and i made it 280 miles in one tank but when i went to fill up i put in 15.3 gallons :eek3:
I read about the poor milage. But I tend to do better than the average on milage due to driving style. So I didn't think anything about the reports. Then I bought one and got the same as everyone else. The only way to change the mialge in this car is to flog the hell out of it and rev to 9K alot. Then it will go down to about 15-16mpg. In mixed driving...expect 18-19.
