ive always wondered how you can differ trance from techno? how can i tell the difference? i like them both!
bpm's(120-150 ish?), transitions(washes, ect), comp styles(soaring synths), and they do bleed into one another. (you have psy-trance, trance, hard trance, minimalist-trance or minimalist techno, minimalist electro, progressive, trance-breaks which are rare but nice when found-think BT or Spyhunter... etc.) and then you have the various techno sub-sub-genres (chemical brothers, the crystal method - up for debate also) then you have electronica which finds it's way into trance arena often. what a mess. i wouldn't get too mixed up in sub-genres of electro (which some consider a sub-genre in and of itself-see what i mean?) just ask for what you're looking for, i'm sure someone here can find it. we've got some good spinning talent here and they may elaborate on the topic. keep in mind many still debate what's "trance" (some think it should have vocals, some think it doesn't matter, etc... it's like asking someone who's the best guitarist of all time). by the by, i've been real busy lately, but i'm almost done with the new tranceport server-migrating stuff now. details to follow. this time around i'll have dl-only accts for those looking to sample trance
see i thought trance had vocals, and techno didnt, and electronica was more piano key sounding. I really like this kinda music with vocals though.
I want some advice on some good driving techno/electronic/whateve music I dont listen to it frequently and dont know where to start
Me and some friends were having the same conversation. My buddies came back from Ultrafest last weekend talking about 18 tents each with a different style of electronic music. Just in the last week I got really addicted to techno but I still cant drive to it, gotta have the upbeat punk rock.
