    Hello All,

I am seriously thinking about converting to a FMIC in about 6 months. Can anyone give me some good tips regarding which would be better overall?.

depends on your turbo setup, if your planning on going big turbo(bigger than 20g) i would say fmic. i would not recomend puting a fmic on your stock turbo, but thats just my opinion. my suggestion would be do the turbo back + EM for now, and maybe big tmic again if your not planning on going huge turbo

FMIC will give you a little more potential, but unless you're running a big turbo it won't be really necessary. I would recommend a good size TMIC with wrapped/coated turbo/downpipe/uppipe to keep engine bay temps down.

Also, I'd recommend AP over Ecutek, but we've had that discussion over and over again on here.

Thanks Guys...I think I will be doing the turbo upgrade also in the next 6 months or so and maybe sooner. I have always wanted a FMIC. I will probably be moving very soon anyways.

I'd say let Doug or Scott tune it.
You could always jump over and look in the
    SE region of nasioc.

    Got some big plans, eh??

i'm sorry i should have said "Engine Management". But i hate to admit it AP, but it seems AP is the way to go now. I think when i got my EM done(Moose this is my opinion, dont want to start a debate) Ecutek was the best decision for ME. If i were to get EM on a new wrx/sti it would be AP hands down.

No disagreement at all on that. Ecutek used to be superior when it came to making the most power, up until Cobb released their new stuff.

mark: like i mentioned when we spoke, theres a LOT that needs to be done with your car before a FMIC will be beneficial over a TMIC... i think the others have given you some good advice

I guess stranger things have happened. But Mark seemed like a pretty cool guy from what I saw.

Maybe he's out turning the wagon into a fire breather. :eek3:

The TMIC is the fastest to get boost. I don't think I would be able to deal with the lag, unless your car never sees below ~4k.

    Hey Guys,

I am back on the forums. I think that I am just going to get a STi intercooler and use meth....Great idea... thanks to Milo....I was considering a FMIC for a long time, but I still think that if I get a VF34 or 20g, I will be fine. Thanks for all the advice guys....I never jump into things....Moose, that was a funny joke about the massage parlor...

Where did Mark say he was getting an STI? I see STI Intercooler and Meth, but no, trading in my car AGAIN for an 06 STI.

welcome back mark! what you have planned sounds really nice. you're gonna be kicking my ass.

btw.. have you upgraded your exhaust yet? that may already be in your plans, if i were you i'd do it before upgrading your turbo and meth.

personally i'd go bigger than an STi TMIC primarily due to the flow restriction... look for a bar & plate core like perrin or turboXS

I think I will go with what Milo was saying because my intercooler should be sufficient. And Yes, Jason, you are correct, I am not getting an STi. I just want to get the HP like the STi. I am just glad that I have the 2.5 litre engine, s/b easier, and Yes, Brett, I definitely took your great advice as far as doing suspension mods first and then performance. I want to say thanks for everybody who gave me really good advice on what to do as far as mods go...You all know who you are...

No doubt Mark. My goal for now is to make around 350 HP and Torque which shouldn't be a problem with the EJ25. After that... who knows?

Mark, I second Milo's suggestion. Also consider the fact that there is less of a pressure drop with the perrin, turboxs etc so less work for your turbo.
