Ok so as my mini profile says I currently drive a 95 Legacy. Obviously it's time for an upgrade. So I've been wanting a WRX ever since I drove one around a year over ago. I realised that was the car for me, amazing vehicle. So I began holing away money. Now I'm at a point where I have enough to put down the make my monthly's low(going to college soon, don't want to sell the car. If I lose my job my dad can take over the payments if their low:)). However its DAMN hard to find one used, low mileage, good condition, and few to no mods.

So I did manage to find one. It's used(03), manual, in relatively good condition, and has under 30K miles on it. However the price that's being asked seems rather high for me considering its age. So am I being crazy and just go for it, or try and wait on another? Really want one before summer(so I can learn manual long term).

So if you were looking for a WRX as a new vehicle, how much would you pay for it?

patience is the key man.....if you want to spend less then you will have to have a higher mileage one. from what you are putting on this one assuming its in really good condition i would say its probably anywere from 17-18k. they actually hold value rather well and high mileage isnt that big of a deal unless it had a gt35r turbo and a tank in the trunk of nitro. i would personally just keep watching the adds.

I paid 15K for mine with a good bit of mods and 35K on the clock, that was 2 years ago though. I'd pay that much at the most for a pristine bugeye, anything less and I'd say a good bit less.

I agree with Brian, paitence is the key to finding a car. Expect a few others to chime into this thread.

I've noticed bugeye prices going up, if you can believe it. But for some reason, the 2004s are cheapter than the 2003. Go figure. I would check NASIOC as I've seen some go for really cheap over there.

you are asking a lot from a 4 year old car but I guess they are out there.

Like mine with mods is a good price but I can see the miles turning some people off even thought they are highway miles and the car runs like a champ.

It is all a compromise but if you're not in a rush then wait until you find the exact one you want.

I paid 19k when my car was a year old and had like 14.5k miles on it. I wouldn't pay much more over 15k for an 03. Figure out how long it has been on the persons lot an then negotiate, because I am sure they don't want to keep it around.

If you do a quick survey of the cars on here and NASIOC and the account for age and mileage, it looks like 14k-15k for a REALLY nice bugeye is very possible...

13 to 15 I guess. Any closer to 20 and you can get a much better car.

In 2004, I bought my 02 wagon for 16K with 33K on the odometer.

    Worth every penny.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that wagons are slightly cheaper than the sedans. Just an FYI.

The thing is taxes kill me. Bascially it would end up at $20330 with taxes and the quoted price they gave me. Which to me seems expensive for a 3 year old car. It's in pretty much perfect condition except for a couple cosmetic issues(nothing to make me turn away though)

thats the problem. I need to get rid of my Legacy at the same time, thus I'm kind of limited to going via dealer.

Im sure if you sold your Legacy to Carmax and then went the Private Party route, you still may come out ahead. I would take the car for an appraisal if I were you.

Capital One for your financing, without a doubt.
Apply online, get a call to verify who you are, then they send you a blank check good up to the amount you request. That way you are not locked into a specific car, but only a price amount and brand (must specify car type, but not the specific car). You can even write the check for more than the sale of the car (as long as it doesn't exceed the approved amount) to cover the tag and stuff - Maybe even a full tank of gas and replacement speakers.

So list your car and sell it, then buy private party. Even if you have to rent a car for a week, you will come out way ahead. You will be glad you did.

I've got financing worked out. Got a pretty decent deal(mom is taking it out)

I was just curious if it would be worth it to pursue going after that one. Probably in my best interest to just keep waiting
