I have an 06 STI and only have 600 miles on the car I put a high performance Green filter in the car last night, and I know your supposed to break in the car before you get on it, but i had gotten on it a little bit last night and on my way home my car feels like it isn't pulling and feeling as strong as it was. Is it ok to get on it like i did last night or did i mess something up or did the green filter cause something? Will my power come back when the ECU learns, is this normal? any ideas? anyone.

Well sure, there could always be a problem with an install if it was done improperly, or if the airbox wasn't secured back after the install. The filter itself should not have any adverse affects. I would definitely wait the extra 400 miles you need to start really getting on it, especially if you want this car to last you a while with upgrades and all. Take a trip for the soul purpose of breaking it in.

It could also be that you just heat soaked your intercooler. I don't know how well they cool off with the spray.

My car feels a little laggy sometimes, but then I remind myself that it weighs over 3,000 lbs. so regardless of how much power it makes it's going to take a little effort from the engine to get it going.

Not to sound like an ass or anything.

i think I may have found out what is going on, The vaccuum line to the blowoff valve is leeking it isn't tight enough I heard a sucking noise from it so I think a little hose clamp or zip tie may fix it but I won't know for sure until i do that and drive it after work, Could this be the problem?

I'm not i seriously notice a power drop!

Still feels kind of slugish almost like the power band changed to a higher RPM is this normal for an sti when it breaks in? or could it be the cold weather? I thought that it was the vaccum line but it wasn't. just seems like i 'm not getting that off the line pull like I used to. Ideas any one Milo did yoy experience a change when yours broke in?

I kinda figured that! I have another 250 miles to go before I am broken in.

I didn't notice any difference between my pre and post break in periods. I think you must have just got some bad gas or something.
