Hello everyone, I just joined this site but have been a nasioc member for awhile. I will be moving to gainesville (from Ft. Lauderdale) in a month or two and have been having trouble finding houses for rent in the area. I could use a few tips on where and where not to look. I am really looking forward to some track days at road atlanta and am hoping to get into the auto-x scene as soon as I move up there. I'm actually thinking about buying a used miata for an auto-x/HPDE car. And of course, finding some low traffic twisty mountain roads is also on my to do list! For those of you in Gainesville, be on the lookout for a white bugeye on rota attacks in the near future! -Eric
welcome to the club. im not really fimular with the gainesville area. hopefully someone thats around that area will chime in.
welcome to WRXatlanta... most of our members are either in atlanta or savannah... hopefully someone familiar with gainesville could help u out
I live in the Gainesville, Oakwood area. Are you wanting an apartment or duplex? I try to help you out as best I can.
welcome! where not to look....Gainesville, lol, j/k it's quite different from ft. lauderdale I can tell you that much good luck
gainesville is begining to become more active in the import scene, but theres a lot of rice there hehe....your not far from the mtns though thats for sure. welcome to the club and ill be on the lookout for ya.
Sup man, welcome to the site. I lived in Gainesville for about 11 years so I can try to help. It all depends on what you want though. You can pay just as much for a really nice place there as you can most other places, or you can get something cheap as shit. I'd actually rather live in Oakwood now though. Hall county is a big place though so look around.
Thanks everyone. I was not expecting over a page of welcomes! :eek3: I will definately check out Oakwood, as I do not absolutely have to live in Gainesville, I just dont want to drive more than 25 minutes to work everyday. I'm guessing its going to be tough to find houses for rent, so I may contact a real estate agent when I go up. If I can't find anything I'll probably just get a short lease on an apt until I can find a house to buy. Any suggestions on nearby areas to the north or east of Gainesville? I will also have to commute to cleveland once in awhile, so something slightly north would be ideal (though I'd much rather drive a little longer on occasion if it means living somewhere nicer).
I see you found it oakwood= closer to Road Atlanta, and about the cheapest gas around. North Hall can be a nice place to live, but it's starting to get a bit more pricey. Plenty of roads, particuarly if you head north some
yup, thanks again for the link. I just came across a house for rent in south hall at cane crossing, looks pretty nice. How's that area?
Gainesville has become just as congested as any Atl suburb. If you can handle the 25 mile or so commute you may want to look up here where I live in Cornelia/Demorest area. A little country up her but you'll get a bit more bang for your buck and close to the mountains. I commute to Gainesville daily, takes<30 minutes.
I was going to add this since no one chimed in about it, be sure to check out the WRXatlanta.com Challenege for our avid auto-x members, be sure to check out this thread for more information -- http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5530 We hopefully will have a track even planned in the near future, and there are an assortment of autox events coming up as well.
I have no idea where that is, so I can't say but I imagine it would be decent. Do you know what it's near?
turns out the address was wrong...its actually off of Popular Rd.(332) between Oakwood and Talmo. I just looked at what it would cost to rent a truck for the move...insane! most places are over $1000 for the small ones, not incluiding a flatbed for the car.
