Ok folks. Here is the poll to get this GTG organized.
Please vote on a date ASAP, so we can get details laid out.

Where: Stone Mountain

What: Cook Out and Family Fun
Entry Fee: $8 (gets you into the park for the day, includes laser show)
Things to do: hiking trails, lake, BBQ , climb mountain,

So please post up and I will get a list started.

Probably going to make it an afternoon deal. I think the laser show starts around 8 or 9pm. If we get enough people maybe we can talk to them about some group pricing etc.

 

i voted for the 17th but both work for me really.

 

24th is better for me.
i have an autocross down here on the 18th...if the meet is on the 17th, that doesn't leave me with time to prep the car.

 

Either work for me, but I'll vote for the 24th.

Damn... I'm moving to Atlanta the first week in July. I guess I'll have to wait for the next G2G.

 

I'm going to the braves game on the june 17. I have a wedding to go to on the 24. So I guess the 17 is better.

 

I hope to God you call ahead and let them know you are coming and make sure they approve.

They will kick you out in a heartbeat. It's private property and they don't like IMPORT car clubs.


We had 60 cars all pay to get in and parked. They came over in the cop cars and asked us to leave. We didn't do anything....they didn't care, we weren't condusive to a family place. WTF?

We said they would have to refund our money and they were happy to do so.

They lost ALOT of money and didn't bat an eye.


I suggest you go somewhere else.

 

thats the whole thing, we are encouraging families (parents, husbands, wives, kids) of members to come out this time. not planing on a totally guy filled meet like usual. we will also have activities planned so we arent just cookin out and drinking. we will check ahead and get aproval. thanks for the tip.

Just camp in the lake, yah whiney butt. Hmm, camping on the sandy beaches would actually be pretty nice.

 

all im saying is its not fun to camp when you wake up stuck to sheets drenched in sweat. personally i like camping in the cold when its like 40 out.

I'd prefer the 24th. I'm not 100% sure if I can make the 17th. Sounds super exciting! Last time i saw the laser show was when i was only 3 years old. seriously.

It never hurts to check ahead of time, I 'd just hate for all of you to get there and then get run off.

We too had womenz and babies but the police/ security didn't care one bit. We planned on making a day of it and hiking up the mountain.

as long as my 240 can clear stuff over there I am cool with going

Plus I say we make it camp if you want to, cause I know I'm driving too far after a day of activities and stuff. A few people can get spots and lots of others can chill, and/or catch shuttle type rides back and forth to the parking lot and stuff.

 

After. It's not the cool place it used to be, in terms of a group of cars going in and parking and enjoying the day.

just FYI, Coastal Empire SCCA has an AutoX on 5/18/06 in Savannah. Don't know how many of the Savannah Suby crowd this effects Probably not a whole lot, but figured I'd throw it out there.

I voted 17th. I have to work the other weekend at 10pm on the 24th. Sounds like fun tho. It's been a while since i've been to stone mountain.

also, i saw that the warehouse meet is supposed to be on the 24th...is that going to affect the date for the sav/atl meet?

 

If Stone Mtn doesnt work out, there is a place about 45 mins to an hour south of atl called High Falls. It's no where as cool as Stone Mountain, but it has a lot of room for parking and picnics. It is a state park, so it costs $3 a car load to get in.
There is plenty of room for football or frisby, and there is a lake and obviously a waterfall. You can fish if thats your thing, there is also a place to hike down to the bottom of the falls. It's a really neat place, that wont be nearly as crowded as Stone Mountain would be, plus it's a lot closer for the Savannah peeps.

Just an idea...

 

This may get tenatively postponed. My schedule with work has just gettin mad crazy, so my time is very very limited to get this thing rolling.

Just a heads up to folks. I will hit up a few others about taking this over for planning.
