    Looking for some ideas

I just had both my valve cover gaskets replaced, but I am still noticing a Lil oil on the center valve cover bolt on the bottom of the driver side. I had Cobb tuning double check the valve cover and it looks fine. They did replace the o ring/seal on the oil filler neck and oil cap.

Any other ideas where else I should start checking?

Did they look at it or replace the valve cover gasket? Were the bolt seals and spark plug seals replaced too? Also could be cam seals.

you don't check the gaskets, you replace gaskets. Assuming you have a 7yo STi, have they been replaced before? if not then it's about that time. Not sure where you're at maintenance wise but it would be a good idea to do cam seals, valve cover gaskets and timing belt all at the same time. Doing it all separately would rape you labor cost wise.

Maint: coming up to the 100k mark.
    Timing belt, cam seals etc...
    Compression test / leakdown test

The valve cover gaskets were all replaced about 3.5 weeks ago. Timing belt , etc is all getting done at the beginning of the year.

I just crawled back under the car earlier it looks like the gasket on either side of the center bolt of the valve cover may be seeping oil. If you run a rag on it its damp, so I am taking the car back up tomorrow to see if they will replace the driver side gaskets again.

Plus I do not see how any other oil leakage / seepage would be able to drip from the center bolt since of the valve cover due to the location of it. Most likely if anything was leaking from the any other part of the engine it would get burnt off before it made toward the bottom of the valve cover

they may have tightened the bolts in improper sequence and it has a pinch in the middle. Probably leaks when under pressure while driving.

What B reel said. I had a small drip on my old motor. I did it in the right sequence but over tq'd the bolts which distorted the seal in the middle spark plug area.

I just bit the bullet and had them do the timing belt today.
They found the Galley plugs were leaking some and Cam Seals. While they were in there they replaced tensioner and idler pulley's etc..

So this should rule out any leaky suspects. As far as the valve cover they offered to put some oil dye in and will have me drive it around for a few days.

Merry Christmas to me , a timing belt :)
