I will try to give as much info as possible. I traded in my WRX last Sat. for an 06 STI. The Sti is stock with the addition of cobb springs & a short shifter. There is no heatshield so I am guessing that the pevious owner had and exhaust and possibly stage 2 mapping. I know there is a huge difference between the wrx vs sti trannies. So I have some learning to do. The problem I am having is the car will stall very easily and in some cases cut off. This will happen when coasting in neutral and I try to put it in gear. Sometimes it will cut off when I depress the clutch and try downshift or take the car out of gear. Also some times when trying to take the car out of gear there is resistance, like I have to use a little force to pull it out. Any suggestions on what might be wrong???????????

Maybe the clutch? The previous owner may have had an aftermarket one and replaced it with his shot stocker before he traded the car.

You have some kind of massive boost/vacuum leak.

This does sound like fun. What should I be looking for? Let me add it does not do it every time just occasionally.

what dealership did you trade it into? Can they take a look at it and determine what's going on?

How many miles are on the car? you might want to look into driving to SoJax to have WJM look at it if it's under warranty. (but of course, the warranty is void if you reflashed the ECU) ;) :(

I just discovered that it has a perrin BCS? And I did not flash the ecu i think it may have been flashed by the previous owner but that is just a guess.

    Bingo.

gfred024: Call Kevin in service at SOJAX to setup an appointment ASAP. I'll be working this saturday until 12pm if you cant make it during the week.

Since the car is modified, I cannot promise whatever is wrong will be covered under warranty, but I'm 99% sure its a very simple problem.
