Just wondering if this is normal or not... I have a fairly loud whining noise in first gear, similar to the way it sounds while accelerating in reverse. It whines whether I'm on the gas or not, though it's a little louder when I'm off the gas. Also, has anyone experienced the sound of gear lash with a lightweight flywheel? The noise is pretty loud and since I have no experience with this noise, I'm a little worried that it might be something else. The noise didn't start until I installed the flywheel, but it's just so loud! The tranny is a stock tranny from a 99 2.5RS, with a Stage 1 ACT clutch, ACT Streetlite flywheel, and new clutch fork. - Shu
Did it just show up after putting on the lw fly? I know when I put mine on I got all sorts of noise but usually in all gears except 1st. It seems to go away if I give gas.
No, the whine has always been there, though I think it's a little more pronounced after the flywheel install.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I did a tranny and rear diff flush just a month ago. I put Uncle Scotty's cocktail in the tranny and Mobil 1 in the diff.
Cool...I figured as much and my noises are pretty consistent with my research, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I can't stand to do much engine braking anymore because of how loud the noise is!
