2.0 to 2.5 swap INFO + Installation

Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by subarusti4life, Aug 14, 2010.

  1. hey all, I know this probably has been asked before, but I need to make sure about this before proceeding, also if you know anyone who can do this swap, contact me-- I want to get this done by or before the 2nd week of Sept

my questions are this-- I can go get a new 2.5 SB from SOK and use the list below for the rest of the parts-- but it seems to be missing the idler pulleys and such for timing-- I know I can get a whole gates kit offline but does anyone know that i need the idlers or can i reuse my old ones? I dont feel safe using old stuff--not trying to be dumb on this one :)

question is , can anyone help me track down ALL the parts? or is the list perfect w/o idlers?

    other questions are

does anyone know if EJ20R heads will swap on?

is the stock block capable of getting me 350-375 whp without frying the engine
I have 700CC inje, FMIC, turbo back full 3" exhaust, catless uppipe, JVTR racing manifold, standalone megasquirt.? on gas

rotated kit vs stock location? why do rotated over a GT30R or something?

    thanks for this swap list

Sent ya a pm about the block. We have a hook up on that one right now. Built block for cheaper than a stock short block. We also have a set of heads available. As for the turbo. A GT30R is a rotated turbo unless you are talking about one of the stock location set ups. Those will generally end up costing almost as much as a rotated set up by the time you get an external gate, up pipe, down pipe, turbo, etc. Give me a call if you have any questions.

  3. I did that migration as well. Except instead of 2.0 heads I got a Sti long block and wrx intake manifold. Heads were built. 20g turbo with the neccessary goodies execpt avcs and better than stock intercooler (have to save up again for the intercooler lol). but turned out really well. 344hp on my setup.

Get the SSAC/XS power front mount intercooler. Pretty cheap and has been proven to work well.
