I'm looking quite hard at a 2012 STi but it has the plain jane non-navi radio. I want the OEM navi radio....is it a direct swap?
Appears that they mostly swap right out in typical Subaru fashion. Now need to see if they play DVD or not. May just be easier to swap in an aftermarket radio but I like the OEM look and wanna keep steering wheel controls without hacking much.
Also, you dont have to do any hacking to get steering wheel controls. I purchased a device from PAC that let me control my aftermarket radio in the MiniVan.
Cool....I've never messed with steering wheel controls except for on the M3 and that radio came with a device that was simply PNP.
Well as I suspected they gave me the wrong pricing on the STi....he told me $30500 and I asked was that for the STi. He said yes and I'm like this can't be right. Then this morning they emailed me and said that was the WRX pricing. I swear I hate dealerships.
The 2012 OEM nav is different in the US, made by Fujitsu Ten. Not plug-and-play in a non-nav 2012. See this thread on NASIOC. It would be possible to make a "transplant" harness (I can put one together for you). But you should give the 2012 nav a thorough "test drive" before you go that route. You may like an aftermarket HU better. Some Canadian models get the Pioneer AVIC-X9310BT (same as the consumer X930BT) as their "OEM" HU. If you like that (or the new X940BT about to come out), you can install one a little more easily than the OEM nav. The Axxess ASWC steering wheel interface module is much better than the ones from PAC.
