20g = loud.

    I just recently put a 20g on my car and it is so much louder than it was before. I am thinking of either putting the cat pipe back in or getting a stock STI exhaust. With the TXS Magnaflow and the race pipe I can barely here myself think.

    Right now I am running the car with the wastegate actuator not even attached. I am sure this is making it a little louder as the exhaust isn't all going through the exhaust wheel. Even with the open wastegate I can still hit 10lbs of boost by 4500 rpms. I'm thinking I'm in for some seriuos boost creep.

    Wow...

    Why not just go have a 3" super duper resonated pipe made?

    I'm catless w/a Prodrive axleaback. Not loud at all. At WOT it'll scream a bit but today I let a friend hot rod around the parking lot while I listened and it's not obnoxious at all. It really seems a bit louder inside the car but maybe thats because it's a wagon, music to my ears nonetheless.

  5. LiquidForce, you need that oil line from me and so you can hook up the wastegate actuator!!! haha ;)

    Thanks for coming by today Michael. I know the line didn't work out for me but the next time I need something I'll buy it through your site.

    I did manage to borrow a line bender from my neighbor. I got the stock oil line on and the 19lb wastegate. Right now I am only running wastegate pressure but the car flies. The fueling is right on but I have the timing pulled back until I can get it tuned. Even at 19 psi this thing is way faster than it was at 23 psi with the other turbo.

    I need to get tuned so next week (8/15) at Commerce I can beat my friend in his C6 Corvette again. Last time I beat him by .8 but he has since changed the rear diff from the stock 2.9 to a 3.4. I think he is going to get dissapointed again. For half the cost of his swap I got a 20g a new clutch and 4 pistons. It sure is hell of alot cheaper to mod a WRX than a Vette.

    btw Michael, that is one of the nicest WRX's I have ever seen. Good job.

    I have the Prodrive axleback on my ish too. I love the sound of it, especially the part where it's not obnoxious while cruising.

  8. I'm sorry the line didn't help you much... I know how you get disappointed after being excited to have something finally worked out haha. I've been through that plenty of times... even with that same oil line haha.

    Anyways, it was nice meeting you today and thanks for the compliment on the car! ;)

    Which 20g you have? I am wondering if I should keep the td05 18g when I go 2.5L block on WRX heads or upgrade to td05 20g. Talked with SS some and he said with the 18g the car will be a torque monster hitting 18 psi by 3050 rpm. That's what I want! A quick spooling car with gobs of tq!

    Its a Deadbolt td06 20g. I am not completely tuned yet but I managed 402whp at 19 psi. Thats 50 more than I had at 23 psi on my PE1820 clone.

    If you are going with a built block you should be thinking even bigger. The 18g will be fun but a sz49 or 55 would be more so ;)

    Thinking of a Stock STi block on WRX heads. I know the head will be limiting but I don't wanna dive that far into debt. Now I just have to figure out what I need as far as cams go etc. SS said the stock WRX heads and cams are good to 450hp. Decisions decisions.

    Also just so everyone knows, I am happy with the stock motor. I raced my buddy with an 04 STi with just intake and exhaust and Topspeed tune (325 hp, 350 tq) and when we punched it from a 40 roll he immediately jumped me a car due to fast spool. Soon as I got into boost I pulled him a car until I shifted. I granny shifted as that rear end clunk scares me a lot so he again pulled a car until I was up in 4th. By that time I could stay in it to stay ahead of him a car. That made my mind up that I need something that can spool better.
