I got this bar, whiteline 27mm adjustable, from Wes, but he had already sold the bushings! These happen to be the same stock bushings as the STi, so thanks to Will and Bob at SOG, I got some stock STi bushings to play with (hack up) and try to make them fit with the FSB.

My dad's drill press was quite useful, (pics coming soon)

Due to human error, the holes on the bushings were not centered the same. They were very close, so I mounted the bar anyway. It fit, but the bar was just barely touching the header. Just to see what would happen, I started up the car and confirmed that the bar was rattling against the header and making an awful sound every time I revved the engine...no good at all.

But wait, the bushing aren't the same, so I decided to see what happened if I switched them. After re-installing, the clearance was much better between the bar and the header. So I started the car and no rattling!!!

Now the problem in that the bar doesn not line up with the holes on both endlinks at the same time, and I am guessing that this is due to the "custom" cut bushings. My new plan is to take the stock bushings and cut them so that they will sit higher and hopefully more even.

The end result will be a 27mm FSB... ON MY WAGON!

Or you could just jack the suspension with a floor jack till it lines up, then bolt it in. It should be fine because the urethane will compress and be straight. So did you drive it around at all?

I had fun in the rain, I drifted around in the install day parking lot.

I heard that if you just get the Whiteline spherical bushing endlinks all of your problems will be solved.

I finally got it in! I drilled out the stock bushings and did a much more accurate job this time, so now I have clearance over the header with no noise/rattling anything!

I ended up having to take off the subframe, which was stiff and light so not to difficult to work with even by myself. Interesting side note: all the bolts on the subframe were torqued to much lower specs than every other bolt that I have seen on this car. I guess the Subaru gorilla had the day off!

I'm going to get new bushings soon anyway, and I agree, the spherical ones will help a lot!

I took pics on a different camera so I can't upload them yet, but here is something that is almost as good as a new sway bar!
