http://driftatlanta.com/ I know it may not be the most popular sport for Suby people. However I went to the one last year(sucked doing it sick) and it was pretty awesome! Was fun to watch them drifting through here: Only problem is it gets damn hot there and there is no shade to watch the event During the breaks you can make your way to some trees though Some pretty cool cars there. The ones they race are pretty awesome to see up close and most of the time you can talk to the people who work on them. Last time i saw a WRX, but mostly a LOT of 240z's. Need a Subaru showing! Hopefully the Impreza drift car will make it to Saturday and into the real event:sx:. Last year they didn't place so I never got to see it (let early to, didnt even have the car there to show off Sat.) Who's up for it? BTW, if you order online parking will be free. At the gate its the same price but parking is 5 bucks.
Prob stupid question but I'm drunk at the mometn ('scuse me) Can you participate or is it an only watch thing?
I'm doing a bit of work with Kevin and Ben (owners of iwsti.com and hspn.com), and I should be in attendenace as media/press gathering footage and such of the event.
I'm planning on going!!!! last year was a lot of fun, got a crazy sunburn though ...it'd be cool to go with suby peeps this year (wasn't a member yet last year) so I don't have to drag my gf with me:wavey:
is this the one at road atlanta? if so i went last year, its really cool but seems same old after about an hour. just my .02.
I actually need to go to that sht. Could some please punch me in the throat if I forget about it somehow? One question though. Are you in stadium seats or can you set up your own thing with a foldout shelter and folding chairs?
i went last year also, and its pretty cool. there was a car show before the drift comp last year, lots of cool rides. thry also had scca going on that day as well. good thing this was posted because i forgot all about it. thanks
Oohhh.. fun fun. Will there be good places to shoot pics? I might justify a new lens for the 300D if that's the case.
Definitely!!!...basically your on a hill and there's a circle that runs right in front of ya.....and they drift right by....it was my first D1 event and had a blast...
your at the suzuki bridge. So bascially just going across the small grass field into the horseshoe is where most of the action happens. You can get right up to the fence as well. Also as for seating. On the left side is a georgia red clay hill, the right side has concrete stadium seating.
That's what I was thinking. I know a guy that would let me borrow one and I have three folding chairs so. Rock on. :ddirty:
i went a couple of years ago.. it was fun. so.. is this an official g2g?:dunno or are we going to make this one?
I went a couple of years back, it was fun and you get to meet some of the drivers up close i met tarzan and D.Yoshihara signed a poster for me. hopefully I can borrow someones viedo camera to tape it if i don't have one by then.
Ill be there taking pictures, but my video capabilities are rather limited. I'll try and grab some footage though
I'll be home for the summer, well plus the fact that I think drifting is kind of a stupid sport. But honestly I think anything that involves judging who is the best can't really be considered a sport. Eh whatev, I wouldn't mind going but I'm not going to go out of my way fpr it.
Got a digi cam I'll be useing for some shots. Hopefully the memory stick will be big enough I may bring a laptop to dump stuff to
I just haven't ever been to a drift event and I told myself I would give it a shot. Sure the cars are completely unrealistic for anything other than drifting but it's still cool IMO. It just shows how the sport has gone to all new levels. Plus the G2G factor is pretty cool. Hell, there were only like 6 or 7 of us the other night at the strip but that was still straight. Just my .02
nah, i dont' see anything... maybe it's just a multiday-food thing. i dunno. i'm prob gonna get a couple "vip" tix from work though. whatever the vip is worth lol. but i'll be there to represent... yo.
I hear from a friend that Mazda of Roswell will give you 2 free tickets if you test drive a Miata. Don't know if it's true or how long it's going on though. If it's true I'm going to test drive one and get some free tix. So I may be there as well
Me and Hazzard are driving up early Saturday morning, I think. I'll bring my shelter and folding chiars, but it'd be really nice if we could meet up with somebody and follow em there since we don't really know the area as well as some others do.
I went to the Mazda dealer yesterday and got some tix. Apparently they still have lots of them available. They didn't even care if I drove the miata or not. I'd be up for meeting you guys somewhere, maybe Mall of Georgia or somewhere that's accessible by everyone.
The Mall sounds good to me. At Borders maybe? The more the merrier of course, maybe we'll even get more Savannah peeps to come up too.
getting there is super easy if you just stay on I85 there will be an exit labeld road Atlanta. Coming from the south you'l take a right and just keep driving on 53. Several miles down the road and you'l literally run right into it. From Mall of Georgia you can either go up I985 and take exit 16(oakwood) and take a right, you'l go straight there. Or you can go up 85. 85 is probably quicker. If your real nervous about getting there then I can meet you at Borders. However I'd be making a special trip out there, but I don't mind
