Now I know this is the same day as the dyno day, but my little sister and some of her friends are involved in a fundraiser and she wanted me to tell people about it. Their friend was diagnosed with cancer, had it removed, but it came back again and they can't do anything about it. Basically, he is going to die and they have no idea when it will be (very sad situation, I don't know how to put it lightly). So in his honor they have started a fundraiser called Reach the Day, and all of the proceeds are going to Cure Search. They have already raised $6000, but their goal is $10,000. They are doing a car wash next saturday (6/11) from 8-1 (you could go before the dyno meet) at Berkely Hills Country Club in Duluth. If you could go out and support that would be wonderful. The cost is $5 if you buy tickets early (if y'all told me beforehand I could arrange for the $5 wash), or if you show up it will be $10. They are also looking for donations, if anybody would like to donate anything feel free to paypal it to me at illegalalien1128@hotmail.com, or just let me know and I could get it at the dyno day. I feel weird asking for donations, but it is for a good cause. If you would like to go, the address is 2300 Pond Road Duluth, GA 30096. Thanks, Craig p.s. I will try to get the $5 carwash discount, but its my sisters friends family who is running this, so I will have to call her tomorrow and ask. Attendees: (6) Alex (hopefully) BlueBox JL889 (hopefully) Married04wrx scuby drew SkullWRX (hopefully) Suby1128
Thanks I appreciate it. I just spoke to ali (coordinator) and she said that if any of you want to get it for $5 (although donations of more than that are greatly appreciated also) to PM me your name and you can get it for the $5 presign up price because I don't have a way of meeting up with everybody to give you the tickets. Craig
any donations i get i will just move to my bank account and add it to the donation I give them saturday. I will even say it's from Craig + WRXAtlanta members to give the club a good rep Craig
wish the saabaru could go up for a wash...ill give alex a 10 or more if hes going (ill be in japan), since this seems like such a nice cause. very sad though. =(
Drew, I'll just wash your car at some point. Maybe expect to come back and find some new mods on your car :dirty:
So all you guys are going to leave around 9:30 to topspeed. That would be great. I am near the area. Might drop by. Depends how rough Fri night will be.
Gonna try and make it. Will mapquest/google maps yield accurate directions? Alex, just don't try and install new springs or top hats on the saabaru. :bigthumb:
yeah, google should give you good directions, if not the best advice I can give you is heading North on I-85, get off at the Beaver Ruin exit (just before gwinnett mall) and take a left. Go through the I-85 lights and take a right at the next light (I think it's satellite Blvd but don't quote me on that. Whatever it is, take a left at the next light, go through a stop sign and you should see the country club on your right, golf course on left and stuff. But the roads have been around for the past 10+ years, so you should be pretty safe using mapquest. Craig
The place was easy to find. I always wondered where that road went. I have another shortcut now as a bonus. They did a good job. Didn't even miss a door like the scouts normally do. I also declined the discount. Seems to defeat the purpose a little. I hope everyone will swing by on the way to TopSpeed or on the way back if you are in the area. -t
Thanks for going man, yeah I was there from 8 until 930, they said two subaru's with loud engines came by lol. Craig
I rolled in about 10:30ish. They did a pretty good job. Kinda spotty on the windows, but it was for a good cause, so I don't really care. In the end, it came out much cleaner than it went in. I was glad to see that they were getting pretty busy as I was leaving (opened up a second lane for washing)
Thats good, yeah they made their goal so they're all really pleased about that. Thanks to those of you who went out, and also to the guys who gave me a donation to give them, it all helped lead to a successful event. Craig
Hey Craig...good job getting this stuff together, and congrats to them on reaching their goal and exceeding it. Sorry I didn't make it out there, but next time I will either be there or give a donation. -Brett
Well the goal was $10,000 but by the end of the day they had added up $12,000 with more to come! If anybody would like to see his website, click in the link http://www2.caringbridge.org/ga/martinblaisdell/. This site can give you more information about the situation than I can. As I've said my sister and her friends put it together, I was just looking to see if I could lend a hand. Thanks to everybody for your thoughts, and please keep him and his family in your prayers. Craig
