I did Uncle Scotty's cocktail in the car and man does it make a difference. Shifts like butta and where I could only get into 1st under 5 mph I can now do it at 18 mph (normally wouldn't but had to see). I also changed the rear diff with Mobil 1 Syn 75/90 (Sti's I know you NEED to use stock Subie fluid). The car shifts quickly and effortlessly and I can downshift like mad with this cocktail and the lighter flywheel! Next will be brakes!
Uncle Scotty's cocktail is: 1 qt Redline Lightweight Shockproof (interesting blue color..found at Summitracing.com) 1 qt Pennzoil Synchromesh (found at Autozone) Fill the rest with Castrol HypoyC 80/90 (midwayautosupply.com...Took me 1 3/4 qt's) For the rear diff I got 2 qts of Mobil 1 Syn 75/90. It is a pain to fill and you can hardly use 1 whole qt as you have no room to push the bottle high enough. I used a whole qt almost.
i went 3 quarts redline 75w90ns and 1 quart penzoil synchromesh in my tranny. then i put a quart of the redline in the rear diff. shifts great! i highly recommend this cocktail.
I like to get more info before i switched out stock liquids. Im sure they are all fine but better safe than sorry. Im more concerned of ling term effects than short term profits
I have this cocktail in my car. I previously has Redline 75w-90ns and the 5th gear started to grind so I switched out with this mix and shifts good. I recommend this also.
We used straight redline in Milo's old WRX, and it was like a brand new tranny :bigthumb: I have never tried the cocktail, but everyone seems to like it.
Mine had a bad 5th gear grind before the cocktail. It only grinded when under high boost and shifting under power. The shifting was also clicky and notchy. Now it is smooth and slides right in where it needs to go. Man that just sounded like a dirty porno....lol
