You know, I was thinking about this the other day. Gotta wonder how much actual knowledge people will have a couple decades from now. What's the incentive for memorizing and learning something when you can just hop online and have all your questions answerered?
One of my professors in college demonstarted this very thing. In a class several years ago that he taught, his students had to memorize entire passages of Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America. They then had to answer questions on a test using quotes from the passages. He gave the test to our class as an experiment, telling us it would count for a grade, and only 3 people received passing scores....yes, I was one, but my "passing" score was a "C." Of course, the course content is soooo much more varied now. You have to go to postgrad to get the kind of focus in your field you used to get in your undergrad.
